According to some data from a study based on the symptoms it is possible to understand if you are positive for the Delta variant or the Omicron variant. The data is released by the ZOE COVID Study app. Both mutations, different from the original strain of the Covid virus, also differ in healing modalities, severity of infection and transmission speed, often distinguishing themselves by a different manifestation of the disease. Previous symptoms characteristic of Coronavirus (such as fever, cough and loss of taste or smell) are slowly diminishing in the case of Omicron, particularly among those who have been fully vaccinated. Zoe COVID is a non-profit initiative which, thanks to a smartphone app, aims to track the health status of individuals – British citizens, registered – who have tested positive for Covid on a daily basis.

Omicron variant: symptoms

The Omicron variant runs, but is less aggressive: how the symptoms have changed compared to Delta. Studies conducted over the past two months, aimed at understanding the nature of Omicron, confirm that the new variant is relatively milder than Delta, despite having a higher transmission rate. Omicron, therefore, runs more, but is also less aggressive. As for the symptoms of the two variants, the common ones are : runny nose, headache, fatigue, sore throat. Chills and fever are occasional. In case of infection with the Delta varianthowever, sneezing and loss of smell and taste may also occur. In Omicron positives, on the other hand, sneezing is common and loss of smell and taste is rare. Persistent cold is also typical in the Delta, but not Omicron.

Omicron variant and Delta variant: the difference in symptoms

According to what emerged from the reports, the way in which the first symptoms manifest themselves in the cases of Omicron is different from the cases of Delta. It is a matter of fact if the disturbances, it has been explained, followed a different hierarchy. According to the data collected: a runny nose is the first sign, followed by headache, fatigue and sneezing in Omicron positive people. During the Omicron wave, nearly 73% of people positive for this Covid mutation had a runny nose. 68% had headaches, 64% had fatigue and 60% had persistent sneezing.
