Bolonka Zwetna dog, characteristics

Bolonka means lapdog , luxury or companion dog. It is a small breed of dog of Russian origin , very similar to the Italian Bolognese. In Italy there is only one breeding and this breed has not yet been recognized by the FCI.

 

Origins of the dog Bolonka Zwetna

This small specimen is such a selected dog in Russia in recent times. Bolonka Zwetna is the result of crosses between Pekingese, Bolognese, Shitzu, and belongs to the Bichon family. 

 

Legend has it that this small specimen made its appearance already at the court of Louis XIV of France and was brought by the sovereign as a gift to Russia. Small dogs are not very common in this country and were even banned  during the Soviet regime .

 

Bolonka Zwetna began to see the limelight around the 1960s.

 

Morphology of the Bolonka Zwetna dog

It is a small dog, whose weight can vary from 3.5 to 4.5 kg and the height can reach 26 cm. The downy coat comes in many variations, beige, brown, orange, black, gray, gray-
white, with shiny and soft curls. It has small, bony legs which give it physical prowess. 

 

The shape of the head is well proportioned and harmonious with the lines of the body. The ears are just protruding from the head with low set, neither small nor large and drooping laterally. The tail is an extension of the column, voluminous that the Bolonkas carry above the dorsal line.

 

Psychology of Bolonka Zwetna

The Bolonka Zwetna is a very nice, affectionate and lively little dog. He is inextricably linked to his owner and family , playful with children and also with other pets, devoid of aggression, participates in all household activities.

 

Cure of the Bolonka Zwetna

The Bolonka tends to be a healthy person with a life expectancy of between 12 and 16 years. This breed can be subject to some pathologies affecting the hepatic system, possible progressive retinal atrophy and problems affecting the femurs.

 

It is important to pay attention to nutrition , rich in proteins that is well balanced to respect the right weight in relation to size. Regular grooming is recommended to take care of the undercoat, which is very dense, and to keep the one on the eyes and on the legs to size.
