Origins of the Tiffany cat
The Tiffany Cat (or Asian longhair) is originally from the United Kingdom , the result of a selection of crosses between the European Burmese cat and the Persian Chinchilla by Baroness Miranda von KirchBerg in very recent times.
From her input, a breeding program was started that favored the reproduction of these specimens. The breed was in fact recognized in 1999 in New Wales.
Tiffany breed cat, characteristics
The Tiffany breed is also called Asian Longhair and indicates a rather rare type of English cat, with long hair, very calm and elegant. Be careful not to confuse this breed with the long-haired American Burmese or the Chantilly which in the 1980s was called Tiffany.
Morphology of the Tiffany Cat
The Tiffany cat is a well structured and muscular specimen , which can weigh up to 12 kg and reach dimensions between 28 and 35 cm. Its coat is semi -long, silky-looking and with little undercoat; the color of the coat has different variations between blue, chocolate, lilac, red, cream, while white is not allowed. The eyes are large and can take on a color that changes between golden yellow and green depending on the color of the hair, which is longer on the neck, belly , hind legs and thick tail .
The head is of medium size and the muzzle is rounded, with broad-based ears and rounded tips. The legs are thin and the hind legs are longer than the front ones. The body is massive, muscular, with a strong chest and “bullish” neck .Â
Psychology of the Tiffany Cat
The Tiffany is a very elegant and balanced cat . He is suitable for apartment living and is very attached to his family. He loves cuddling and playing, but he does not mind tranquility and idleness.
One of its main characteristics is obedience , so much so that it is an example suitable for living with children and the elderly. The Tiffany is a talkative cat , when it wants to attract attention, it meows in a very expressive way. He knows how to adapt to coexistence with other pets as well.
Cure of the Tiffany Cat
The Tiffany is a hardy cat but its long coat needs to be brushed regularly to avoid knots.
It is important that you follow a balanced diet based on the type of physical activity, because it tends to gain weight easily . The Tiffany can be subject to renal polycystosis, typical of Persian cats. The life expectancy of this breed ranges from 13 to 20 years .
