The anti-inflammatory diet reduces fibromyalgia

The anti-inflammatory diet reduces fibromyalgia

A very interesting study found a correlation between the main symptom of fibromyalgia, musculoskeletal pain hypersensitivity, with an inflammatory diet.
Even if followed for only one day.

Researchers from the University of Granada published a study in the American Academy of Pain Medicine involving over 90 women with fibromyalgia and a group of 98 women with menopause symptoms.

These women were put on a pro-inflammatory diet according to the Dietary Inflammatory Index .

PRO-INFLAMMATORY AND ANTI-INFLAMMATORY DIET: DIFFERENCES.

  • It is an index that identifies a range of foods that would cause low-grade systemic (body) inflammation. This inflammation is then established through particular blood markers, such as C-reactive protein.
  • Generally, a pro-inflammatory diet means a diet low in vitamins C, E and other antioxidants (flavonoids) as well as fiber. On the contrary, it is rich in simple sugars, alcohol and fats.

WITH THE ANTI-INFLAMMATORY DIET THE FIBROMIALGIA IS REDUCED

  • So the Spanish researchers have subjected these women to a 24-hour diet low in certain nutrients and rich instead of refined and fatty foods, with the addition of alcohol.Women reported increased pain and weakness sensation following treatment.

On the one hand, this leads us to think that it takes just one day of incorrect diet to worsen both the symptoms of fibromyalgia and the side effects of menopause. On the other hand, it confirms that an anti-inflammatory diet can reduce the pain caused by fibromyalgia, but also the symptoms of menopause.
