What the Rolfer does

In the words of the inventor of the method, Ida Rolf , the Rolfer “brings order”. And in the R olfing system, bringing order back means honoring an approach to integration, as the customer is seen as an inseparable unit. The expert brings and balance in the body structure, through touch and movement education .

The connection at the base is that between the force of gravity and the harmonious functioning of the human body . This is due to the plasticity of the connective tissue which allows the body to change shape. Through a sensitive and decisive touch, the Rolfer acts to free the body from its restrictions and realign the posture correctly with respect to the gravity field, making it more harmonious and balanced at the same time.

For a Rolfer, deciding to attend Rolf Movement seminars means further qualifying about the recognition of movement patterns and strategies for changing movement habits in the client’s daily life.

Becoming Rolfer

In Italy it is offered in a modular format, has a duration of approximately 3 years (for a total of approximately 80 days) and is held in Italian. With this first step you get the title of Certified Rolfer®. After a year, the Rolfer participates in a supervision seminar lasting six days. The update is constant and aimed at the title of Advanced Rolfer. The Rolfer can simultaneously decide to follow the Rolf Movement Practicioner path.

In the contract that Rolfer signs with RISI , participation in a minimum of three days of Continuing Education is required every two years after your Advanced Training. The refresher program includes, for example, Rolfing Manipulation and Rolf Movement seminars aimed at  refining the manual skills of the Rolfer in the various aspects of the work.
