Jesus Interview: Personal Trainer at Fernán Gonzalez
What led you to start fast ?Despite my university studies in Physical Education, at that time I was not working in what I liked, I was working in clothing stores. I was very clear that I wanted to dedicate myself to training. I threw the CV for a thousand places, but they did not catch me in any, because the profile they were looking for was not mine. They were looking for versatile profiles (spinning, gap, etc.) and I offered personal training based on scientific evidence. Shortly after I saw the ad for fast on the internet, I posted the CV and they called me to interview me. I passed the first interview and then I went to the one-day test. I also passed it and thus I was able to complete the training. I was living in Zaragoza, so I had to come to Madrid to work at the Fernán González fast center .What surprised you the most when you did the initial training at Boadilla?I was surprised that they were looking for “people who knew.” They did not seek “posture” as in other gyms. They were looking for trainers who really had knowledge of anatomy, physiology, who knew how to communicate, who knew how to train. The training seemed to me a real filter in which the good guy passes and the one who does not give the profile does not pass. Was it hard for you to do so many hours of practice and theory to become a great fast trainer ?It wasn’t hard for me, because I love it. From the first moment I made it my goal to learn and never go too far, or believe myself superior to anyone. I consider that the base had it; then within fast I started loosening up and learning a lot. I am comfortable and very well, and I think I do my job well. I like the fast way of working . Select the most suitable trainers. They focus on knowledge, that everything is very scientific and very true. What do you like most about your job as a fast trainer ?That he is very entertaining and very dynamic in dealing with the client and communication. When a client comes you can laugh with him, you train him, you teach him, you give him guidelines to improve his healthy habits. The best thing is when clients thank you for what you teach them. That fills you as a coach, because you have been able to help a person. Of course, I also like the work dynamics, my colleagues are great, and Ángel, my franchisee, is also great. Everything is great. What has been your greatest achievement as a fast coach ?An achievement is when you retain customers. It is true that there are clients who do not retain loyalty, because they do not come predisposed to it and take this training as something temporary. But others do come with a predisposition, and if you do your job well, they end up loyalty. I have been with some clients for a year, a year and a half, and they are comfortable.
Why do you think that Active Integral EMS can help many people?
In the first place, it is an important help, because it complements conventional exercise and can further enhance the goal you seek. And secondly, it is beneficial, because being something so novel makes it more attractive to the customer. This means that people who have never done anything enter the world of exercise and, therefore, already start a habit of life that may continue. So just because you come in and get into a habit it doesn’t matter if you lose 5 kg. or 30 grams. That you take that habit of life is already an advance!
What is your favorite fast program ?
I like the Tonic and Reduce a lot, it is also true that they are the ones I use the most. If a person comes looking for Strength, obviously I also use it (laughs).
When you train yourself, what is the program that you like the most?
I usually combine Tonic and Reduce, and even, sometimes, Antiaging. And from time to time Strength.
What would you say to someone who is going to start training with the fast method ?
That this is going to come in handy for you, that it is a very good help to achieve your goals. But, above all, I would try to instill healthy lifestyle habits: exercise and good nutrition is the most important thing.
