How important is the polarized lens for the health of your eyes?
When you find yourself having to buy a pair of glasses do you opt for a polarized lens or a normal lens?
What is the polarized lens used for ?
And how important is it for our eyes?
Here, these are the first questions to ask yourself when you are in an optical shop to choose the new polarized glasses .
First of all we must say that polarized lenses help to see better, soften the reflection and are perfectly wearable by all people who do not have specific vision problems.
But what is the polarized lens?
The polarized lens
Natural light comes everywhere, that is, it moves between all dimensions of three-dimensional space and in any direction.
When light encounters a reflecting surface, it undergoes a process called polarization, that is, it moves vertically and horizontally.
These two directions of light, vertical and horizontal, give different sensations and information.
Vertical light brings the vision of colors and contrasts.
The horizontal light, on the other hand, creates a nuisance: the reflection.
Reflection leads to reduced visibility, fatigue and color distortion.
In summary, if we find ourselves in a situation of strong brightness we have the problem of reflection, which blinds everyone.
Here the polarized lens becomes very important as it reduces the reflected light energy that creates annoyance.
The lens improves contrasts, vision becomes sharper, colors are more natural and vision experiences less fatigue.
In addition, the lens allows 100 percent protection from the sun’s UV rays.
When to wear polarized lenses?
Although in the city the polarized lens is, of course, an advantage but it does not create the difference if instead we find ourselves engaged in an outdoor activity and in all those sports in which we find ourselves dealing with a reflective surface ( such as motorcycles, fishing, skiing, sailing, etc.). Polarized lenses are necessary in the high mountains, at the sea, on the beach. Think that snow, for example, reflects 85 percent of the existing brightness.
There are several colors to choose from:
- gray
- browns
- pink
- greens
Gray lenses are perfect in bright light, because they make the contrasts sharp and sharp.
Brown lenses are the perfect ones to be used all day, from morning to night, and always maintain perfect, clear and bright vision.
Pink lenses have the same characteristics as browns, hence the versatility, but add that touch of pink that is filters the lenses with a warm color, which wraps everything in a sweeter embrace than brown.
Green lenses are excellent when the brightness is variable, such as when you switch from cloudy to sun and vice versa.
It is certainly not mandatory to have glasses with polarized lenses but the difference is evident, the perception of light and reflection changes significantly and I am always sure that when you decide to change a normal lens with a polarized one don’t go back, that’s for sure.
