Finger or patetereccio, causes and symptoms

The finger, also known as a patereccio , is an inflammation that can affect the extremities of the fingers and toes.

Generally, the fingertip is caused by a bacterial infection with streptococci or staphylococci but it can also arise from the fungus Candida albicans or the virus that causes herpes .

In other cases, the fingertip arises as a result of prolonged irritation due to the use of detergents , detergents or other substances or it can appear due to an ingrown toenail.

When the finger is the result of a bacterium, a fungus or a virus, the infection occurs as a result of small wounds from which the microorganisms are able to penetrate. Injuries can result from accidents but also from inappropriate manicures or from  biting nails and cuticles.

Like all inflammatory states, the fingertip also causes skin redness , swelling, and throbbing pain. In addition to these symptoms, there may be an alteration of the nails, which can deform, detach or have unusual colors.

In severe cases, the fingertip can become infected and vesicles containing fluid and pus can form and the infection can spread to underlying tissues and reach the bone. In this case, in addition to the symptoms already reported, the finger can cause joint and muscle pain and fever .

Giradito, natural remedies

The fingertip is usually an acute inflammation that tends to resolve spontaneously  within a few hours or a day.

To relieve the annoying symptoms of the finger, you can use a simple ointment based on vegetable oils and containing essential oil of lavender and tea tree .

These two essences, in fact, have antibacterial and antifungal action and help to soothe the redness of the skin, the pain and any itching caused by the appearance of the fingers .

In the event that the finger does not resolve in a short period or if you suffer from this condition in a chronic way , it is advisable to go to your doctor for a visit.

The doctor may decide to take a sample of the fluid present in any blisters, so as to be able to determine the cause of the infection and prescribe the most suitable treatment.
Generally, the treatment of the fingertip involves the application of antibiotics, antifungals or antivirals for topical use , according to the organism responsible for the infection.

If you often suffer from fading, you can use some simple strategies to avoid relapse .

First and foremost, care should be taken when performing manicures , always using clean and disinfected equipment and trying not to injure yourself around your nails.

It is also essential to avoid biting your nails or cuticles , to reduce the risk of trauma to the fingers.

In winter it is also advisable to protect the hands and feet from the cold through the use of gloves, socks and emollient and protective creams that prevent dehydration and the consequent appearance of cracks on the fingers.

If the finger hits the toes , it is recommended to wear comfortable footwear and, whenever possible, for example at home, to wear slippers without socks, to dry the lesions.

In case of bruises or wounds at the level of the fingertips, it is advisable to immediately disinfect the affected area, applying applications with hydrogen peroxide or another disinfectant .

Although it may seem a minor manifestation, if the finger appears often or is slow to heal, it is best not to underestimate this pathology and contact your doctor or dermatologist.
