Beagle, characteristics
The famous dog of the comics, Snoopy, designed by Charles Schulz is precisely the representation of this English hound used for hunting in pack of the nobles.

The Beagle , known as the inspirer of Charles Schulz, designer of the dog Snoopy, is a small hound with a characteristic appearance that immediately inspires sympathy in those who look at it.
It has always been renowned as an English dog selected for hare hunting and unfortunately also for laboratory experiments.

Origins of the Beagle
It seems that the Beagle is the result of a selection started from the FoxHound, which is much larger in size than the dog. We then came to the definition of the standards to which the breed adheres, although there have been some variations in the past regarding the size of the Beagle.
At the court of Elizabeth I of England , a small beagle was selected, barely measuring 25 cm at the withers, and known as Beagle Elisabeth .
This line is now completely extinct and any selections of dwarf Beagles are among the scams of unscrupulous breeders. There is a difference in size between larger English-selected Beagles and smaller American-selected Beagles.Anyone wishing for a small adult Beagle must therefore research genealogical lines from the USA.
Morphology of the Beagle
The Beagle is a small hound , otherwise known as a hound, it is one of the small dogs. It reaches about 40 cm at the withers and can weigh up to 16 kg. The muzzle is particularly distinctive , with large, languid eyes and long downturned ears.
It has a harmonious and strong structure , with a long neck, a compressed trunk, muscular legs and the characteristic upturned tail. The short-haired coat can be bi or tricolor, and the allowed colors are white, fawn, black, honey, tan and blue.
Psychology and character of the Beagle
The Beagle is a lively dog, very sociable and with a gentle and affectionate character . It becomes attached to the whole family and is very suitable for keeping company and becoming a playmate for children. He is very sensitive and we must not forget that he is born a hound, therefore with a hunting instinct that needs to be educated .
In fact, the Beagle can be a bit stubborn, the owner must arm himself with time and patience to teach him to manage the olfactory curiosity and not to run away or simply go away.
It turns out to be very welcoming even with strangers, so it is not the best breed for guarding the home and family. It also socializes very easily with other animals, loves to live in packs.
Beagle care
The Beagle lives quietly in an apartment but needs to be exercised daily. He has to run and vent his desire to experiment and browse moved by his sense of smell. Prolonged constriction could cause him stress .
It is a basically healthy breed, with a good life expectancy that can last up to 15 years of age .
It does not require special care thanks to the short and dense coat. On the other hand, it is advisable to pay attention to the ears and by remaining lowered they can accommodate parasites and be subject to inflammation.
