What is vitalogy?
Vitalogy is a manipulative technique that is based on chiropractic principles and focuses on the cervical spine. The method was devised by the Swiss Peter Huggler and subsequently expanded by fellow countryman Francis E. Vuille who in 1983 completed the training course in vitalogy of the first in Biel. Vitalogy involves the palpation of the first cervical vertebra, the atlas, in order to optimize the position by applying an impulse and restoring the balance of the nerve cables. Vuille integrated his knowledge by following a training course as a masseur and personal consultant and in 1984 he founded his own institute in Kerzers. To distinguish his own work from that of Peter Huggler, in 1995 Vuille renamed his method with the name of “vitalpratica di F. Vuille “, which is practiced through a combined massage, mainly of the spine, with acupuncture points and special tools to rebalance it, a real registered trademark. In this regard, we also mention vitaflex, an ancient reflexology practice Tibetan tradition that involves digital pressure on reflex points, often combined with a cure based on lemon juice and / or colored light therapy. Over the years, various other manual therapies (in addition to vitalogy, vital practice and vitaflex) have been dedicated to these studies and their practical application: from chiropractic, follows osteopathy, part of physiotherapy,Atlaslogia according to Landis, Atlasterapia according to Arlen, Dorn-Breus, Atlas-Orthogonal, Atlasprofilax according to Schümperli, Vitametik, Upper Cervical, ATLANTOtec®, AtlasPROfilax ).
How does it work?
Vitalogy is based on the principle that the human body has an innate self-healing power and after the maneuvers of the expert chiropractor , the body begins a self-healing process. Typically this type of practice works on the first two cervical vertebrae (atlas or atlas or vertebra C1, and axis or cervical or vertebra C2), inducing the other vertebrae to align in the right position, thus allowing the body to receive the right flow from the side. of the innervations that come out of the column. The first cervical vertebra plays a delicate and at the same time primary role: a malfunction in this area can affect the entire musculoskeletal system, the circulatory system and the nervous system, creating misalignments and dysfunctions in various parts of the body. The technique requires a great sensitivity of the fingers by the operator, who exerts a specific muscle stimulus, in particular points on the neck in favor of a correct distribution of postural balance. The result is an immediate relaxation which favors the action of the treatment. In two phases of rest, the body reactivates its self-healing abilities according to its own times and rhythms. The active collaboration of the person is important as some simple precautions become relevant.
What ailments  does vitalogy cure?

The law in Italy and abroad
In Italy, professionals of other rehabilitation therapies often see chiropractic as “the practice of the cracker” and there is widespread skepticism about this profession, even if there are those who, appreciating its beneficial effects, are getting very close to this type of therapies. In America the discipline is considered truly holistic, it follows the principle of healing through the hands and avoids medicines, and is practiced a lot; it is also widely recognized in Switzerland , where vitalogy was born.
Associations and reference bodies
The reference point for chiropractors in Italy is the Italian Chiropractors Association (AIC) which is the National Organization that represents the Doctors of Chiropractic practicing in Italy. The AIC was founded in 1974 with the aim of regulating and promoting the profession in Italy and keeping up-to-date on the relevant laws . Another useful site can be Vitalogie.com in its Italian version .
