Metformin for weight loss?

Metformin for weight loss?

Metformin is a hypoglycemic drug used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes, particularly when associated with being overweight.
A series of studies have recently come out that reveal its potential as a slimming drug, as an anti-cancer drug , to reduce the symptoms of fibromyalgia and to reduce cardiovascular risk.
But what is metformin? Are there any side effects?
And does metformin work for weight loss?

METFORMIN FOR SLIMMING:
WHAT IS METFORMIN?

There has been a stir in the news that metformin is useful for weight loss and maintaining a stable weight over the long term by reducing visceral fat. The mechanism of action of metformin, a drug of the biguanide family that acts on AMPK, however, is not yet clear from a scientific point of view as regards its repercussions on health.

And much research is still in the experimental field for everything that does not concern the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
What is known for certain is that metformin acts on the mitochondrial receptors of cells, making them sensitive to the action of insulin.

But metformin had already been used for several years as a trick to lose weight and burn fat mass, for example in sports, in healthy people without blood sugar problems who were looking for a smart way to lose more weight.

An absolutely improper use of what is a drug, and which already in the diabetic patient must be prescribed with a series of precautions. This is because of its side effects.
