Lorraine Kearney’s 21-day cleansing diet

Lorraine Kearney, New York nutritionist, author of the book “The sugar detox” , proposes a 21-day purifying diet to reduce sugar consumption , lose weight quickly, and then return to an easy maintenance plan with reduced carbohydrate intake. A purifying diet like this is a “sugar detox” that can give many advantages: you can lose three kilos, deflate, reduce the hunger for sweets and go back to eating carbohydrates in the right quantity for our lifestyle , especially way if we’re not athletic people and don’t like going to the gym.
Here’s how to set up a purifying diet based on the nutritionist’s advice.

THE PURIFYING DIET “THE SUGAR DETOX” BY LORRAINE KEARNEY
First week: the first week is the most difficult.
In the first 3 days all products containing cereals, legumes, dairy products, cheeses and fruit, any form of alcohol are eliminated . No sugar is consumed in any form, not even with stevia.
You can eat eggs, meat of any kind, fish of any kind, vegetables and make two small snacks a day with almonds or pistachios (ten for snacks). 
The typical plan for the first three days is this:
Breakfast: two-egg omelette in a little coconut oil or butter, a coffee or tea without sugar
Lunch and dinner:meat or fish (medium portion, not smoked or in oil) with a large side dish of leafy vegetables, broccoli or vegetables such as courgettes, peppers, asparagus, mushrooms. To season: a tablespoon of olive or coconut oil. Detox teas and herbal teas, such as dandelion, green or matcha tea, are highly recommended. After the first 3 days, in the remaining four, a fruit of your choice is introduced to the floor , apart from the banana. It is recommended to take long walks and drink a lot. Second week:  On the first week floor it is possible to add another fruit of your choice. But still no sugar, no cereals, no legumes, no sweeteners, no dairy products or cheeses, no alcohol or products with flour are allowed. Short workouts every day or half an hour three to four times a week, short but intense, like HIIT are recommended.
Third week: In addition to fruit in two portions, you can eat all the other vegetables (carrots, beets) in our side dishes, plus:
– a portion of potatoes or sweet potatoes (100 grams raw) or legumes such as chickpeas and beans (100 grams of boiled)
– a half portion (40 g) of rice or pasta or two slices of wholemeal bread or rye instead of rice and pasta.
You can sweeten it with stevia or very little honey and eat a small piece of extra dark chocolate.
After these 21 days of cleansing diet, the addition of other carbohydrates or dairy products must be done in a personalized way. 
If you want to continue losing weight, continue your third week plan by staying on that carb quota and exercising.
If we have lost 3 kilos and that’s enough , we can add to the plan a dairy product of your choice among the skimmed ones (Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, skimmed ricotta) or add another half portion of rice or pasta or bread or a small dessert preferably with a reduced sugar content, perhaps with wholemeal flours, a little honey, nuts and fruit like these muffins .
