WhatsApp update for iPhone: the news
WhatsApp has released a new update for iPhone with many interesting news. The update, available on the App Store for all iOS devices, introduces new functions even if many users “expected more”. Let’s see in detail all the news already available and those that we would have liked to see active, but which we will probably see only in the coming months.
The latest version of WhatsApp for iPhone – which reaches version 2.12.5 – brings with it one of the most sophisticated options of recent times, that is the possibility of marking a message as unread or as read , all by simply dragging the chat to which we want to apply the label. The version of the messaging application for iPhone thus adapts to Android, which since version 2.12.194 has made the read / unread option available.
WhatsApp update for iPhone: all the news
In addition to the ability to mark a message as read or unread, here are all the news of the update:
- Custom settings for notifications and silent for each chat
- Ability to include videos in chat backups. To activate it, go to Settings -> Chats & Calls -> Chat Backup
- VoiceOver support improved
- Ability to share contacts directly from the Contacts app
- Ability to share from Apple Map directly on WhatsApp
- Decrease your call data consumption. The option is available in Settings -> Chat & Calls
- Previous messages now load automatically when you scroll through the chat
- Improved design for cutting photos and videos
- Location messages now use a larger map preview
Ps. As specified by WhatsApp itself in its update, this version of the application requires iOS 6.0 or higher and is optimized for iPhone 5, iPhone and iPhone 6 Plus.
How to install the new update
Users have two options to install the new update. The classic way is to download the update directly from the App Store on your iPhone. Alternatively, you can download it from the web using the link made available by WhatsApp.
What we don’t find in this update
How did iPhone users react to the new update? Surely the innovations introduced will make many happy, but more was expected. For example, from the design , which could have been improved but with respect to which no intervention was carried out. Everything is silent even for the version of WhatsApp for Apple Watch , as well as the integration with the Web version (which is still available unofficially with this trick ).
Also missing is a hoped-for, but hardly achievable version for the iPad. In fact, WhasApp only works if associated with a SIM and not all Apple tablets have this option (although there is a way to use WhatsApp on iPad , without jailbreak). No updates for videos either, the maximum limit remains 3 minutes.
