Sole of the foot, the corresponding organs

Sole of the foot, the corresponding organs

Reflexology is an ancient diagnosis and treatment technique: understanding its principles is possible by observing a simplified map of the reflex points of the foot.

Soles of the feet and corresponding organs

The basic principle of reflexology is that the whole body is mirrored on the foot and that  by treating the areas on the foot , corresponding organs are reached.

Another principle of reflexology is that of similitude : organs and muscles are found on soft areas of the body , while the bones of the body are located on bone areas.

Starting from these simple assumptions, and with a basic knowledge of anatomy, it is easy to look at your feet and “see” how your body is mirrored on them . The areas are therefore easy and intuitive to locate.

The general smattering obtained from these simple rules is not exhaustive since a good school of reflexology requires an in-depth study of the anatomy of the foot and of the whole body, of physiology, of energetic aspects, such as traditional Chinese medicine to learn the meridians that make up the feet, and in-depth studies of the areas and epicenters.

Look at your feet and then look at the map : the organs are brought back to the sole of the foot as if they were in front of a mirror. On the back of the foot, on the other hand, according to the similitude rule, there are the bones of the back.

Simplified classic reflexology map

For larger organs, localization on the plant is easy, while for smaller systems, epicenters are identified that are not precisely located where, looking at ourselves, we would expect to find them.

Schematically, the most important reflexology areas can be found as follows:

  • the head will be on the big toes , on both feet;
  • the frontal sinuses are on the tip of the second, third and fourth fingers;
  • the eyes are located under the third toe, on both feet.

These three points are useful to treat in case of headache , sinusitis, eyestrain.

  • The  lungs are in the center of the pad at the base of the fingers, for the entire width of the sole;
  • the heart is located under the lung area, and is a small and important point found only on the left foot.

Stimulating these areas allows you to release held emotions, improve the quality of breathing , and relieve stress, which often leads to a contraction of the back muscles and therefore also affects the organs of those areas.

  • The stomach is located in the center of the foot, on the line of the internal arch slightly more displaced on the left foot than on the right;
  • the liver , on the other hand, will be in the same position as the stomach but on the right foot;
  • duodenum and pancreas are found just below the stomach area.

The stomach and liver, along with the pacreas, improve digestion, support detoxification and metabolism.

  • The kidney area  and corresponding area of the adrenal glands are found on both feet, as are all double organs, in line with the first toe just below the stomach and duodenum / pancreas.

For a detoxifying action it is useful to treat this point combined with the liver area. Treating the kidney also improves internal fluid circulation and fatigue.

  • Transverse colon , ascending colon , appendix-ileus and descending colon form a circle right in the center of the foot, between the base of the toes and the heel, the softest part where the plantar arch is formed, starting at the bottom on the left foot, going up up to the stomach area, then passing onto the right foot, and back down.

To support digestion and elimination, in case of a lazy bowel and also in case of dysentery, treat these points gently.

  • The spine will be in the center, along the entire length of the foot.

Massaging this entire area relieves back pain and muscle tension pain due to stress and incorrect postures.
