Salty foods make you age

Salty foods make you age

According to a US research from the Medical College of Georgia, too much sodium in the blood causes aging.

In fact, it seems that eating salty foods, in addition to causing kidney problems, pressure and osteoporosis, speeds up the cellular aging process .

So, in short, those who eat too many salty foods would age sooner.
This is because an excessive consumption of sodium would favor the shortening of telomeres, terminal regions of DNA, which tend to shrink with aging.
Shorter telomeres would be tantamount to aging prematurely.

The study found early telomere reduction in overweight young people and adolescents with too much sodium in their blood.

So from today we have one more reason not to eat salty foods but be careful. Even a drastic reduction of salt in the diet is related to a greater risk of early death, metabolic problems , and greater cardiovascular risk.

Foods with salt on the surface, such as snacks and chips, or baked goods, should be avoided, but salt should not be reduced in any other way and should not be avoided, but balanced with adequate potassium.

So consuming more fruits, vegetables and tubers, as well as milk and dairy products, can be a way to avoid reducing too much salt but at the same time avoid having high sodium.
