Bowl cake, the mini oat cake for breakfast

It is called “bowl cake” and also in Italy it is depopulating as a new food trend for breakfast recipes, after having conquered the food bloggers of France and America: it is an oat cake, indeed, a single-portion cake made with flakes of oats, which can be cooked in the microwave in a few minutes, but which can also be done in a pan, leaving it in a mold overnight in the fridge (or at room temperature if it’s not too hot) and turning it out for breakfast. Very satisfying, beautiful to look at, very satiating, it is a way to eat a single-serving cake similar to a mug cake.
Here is the basic recipe to customize:
30-40 grams of oat flakes,
an egg or an egg white (if you want it lighter, do it with an egg white)
3 tablespoons of vegetable or skimmed milk
a pinch of salt and sweetener to taste
a level teaspoon of baking powder
Calories: about 200 with egg.
If you use the microwave, mix all the ingredients in a bowl and cook for 2 to 4 minutes.
If you use the frying pan instead,
Cook the oat flakes in 120 ml of water, wait for them to become creamy, then add the beaten egg and continue cooking for a few seconds, mixing very well and quickly to prevent the egg from separating (same thing if you use the ‘egg white). After a few seconds, turn off, leave to cool, transfer to a small bowl and rest for at least 5-6 hours, preferably overnight. Then you can take the cake out of the mold and garnish it. In this case the yeast is not necessary, but the result will be more “puddling”. 
You can customize your single-serving oat cake as follows:
– garnish it with a spoonful of Greek yogurt and pieces of fruit or unsweetened cocoa flakes or a spoonful of peanut butter, almond butter, hazelnut or pistachio butter.
– combining spices to taste
– adding pieces of fruit or half a mashed banana or 100 gr of apple compote to the mixture
– using flavored oat flakes instead of traditional ones:
 there are chocolate, biscuit, cream, hazelnut or pistachio, in this case avoid the sweetener. Among the brands: Bpr Nutrition, Prozis, My Protein.

In this way you get a delicious breakfast based on oat cake , easy, low in fat, and low in calories (max 300 with the various additions). Who wouldn’t want to start the day with a small cake?
