THE COACH’S ADVICE: WHY DIET AND TRAINING?
- If you just diet, you can lose weight quickly, but some of that weight can be muscle mass, and you risk slowing down your metabolism and putting on weight again once you go back to eating more.
- On the other hand, if you just go to the gym, you often tend to eat more, but when you eat normally, your weight does decrease, in response to the calorie deficit you burn in the activity: but it slowly decreases compared to our expectations.
If you follow both, diet and gym or some other form of physical activity, explains Jillian Michaels , you get the advantage of losing weight easily, but also of maintaining healthy and active muscle mass.
The ideal is to avoid very drastic diets in order not to create a metabolic stall but to follow a small deficit in the diet and make choices of higher quality, accompanied by the deficit of physical activity.
