The scam message from Zara that thousands of WhatsApp users have received looks like this:

“Answer our survey and win a € 150 Zara voucher. Zara is expanding in Italy, so we need your feedback. “

In reality, behind this apparent discount coupon from Zara hides a virus that sneaks into your phone and activates a subscription service that will slowly dry up all your remaining credit.

How the Zara virus works on WhatsApp

The scam is well organized.

Receive a message on WhatsApp with the words “Bonus 150 € Zara. Receive a Zara coupon worth € 150 ”.At this point, clicking on the link takes you to a survey, where you are asked to answer questions such as “Are you a Zara customer? How often do you buy? Etc..”.

After the test is finished, you are asked to share the quiz with at least 3 groups and 10 contacts (a devious move to make the Zara virus go viral ).

At this point, after a bit of trouble (often the groups don’t work, or the app goes really slow) you get to a page of a gossip site . And it is on this page that you risk voluntarily signing up for a paid service.

So, better stay away and don’t click on the Zara bonus link for any reason. And don’t be fooled by the facebook comments you find after taking the test. Of course, those are fake too!

And finally, to conclude, even the joke: a nice message from Zara informing you that the 150 euro bonuses have ended. Et voila, the scam is complete.
