Why is abdominal fat dangerous?
We have often heard that the health risks related to obesity or overweight mainly concern abdominal fat: it is known that values of over 102 cm of waist for men and over 88/90 cm of waist for women are associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and overall health. But now we know even more: according to a recent study, abdominal fat is such an incisive parameter for assessing a person’s health, that between a thin person with evident abdominal fat and a fat person in a more evenly distributed way, the one who is in worse health is certainly the first.
According to a study organized by the Mayo Clinic of Minnesota, which examined a large sample of the population, thin people with bloated bellies and abdominal fat have twice the risk of early mortality than those who are overweight. Doctor Francisco Lopez-Jimenez has suggested to people who suffer from swollen stomach and localized fat, to reduce the stress, responsible for an increase in abdominal fat: for example by treating sleep and walking at least three times a week for about 50 minutes.
But why is abdominal fat so dangerous for our health?
