Why gain lean mass?
There are five reasons why it is appropriate to increase our muscle mass: yes, in short, to make us grow muscles without exaggerating. I don’t necessarily want you to be strong , but some exercises with weights or at high intensity (even free body, even for a few minutes, as for the tabata protocol) can be useful to increase lean mass and bring us some benefits.
Which ones, you will say. According to Joel Harper , a personal trainer who has trained some Olympic champions, doing exercises that develop better muscle tone and physical strength are necessary for at least five reasons
1) Gaining muscle mass makes you lose weight: This is also revealed by a study by Penn State, whereby those who put on lean mass tend to lose weight on the same diet as someone who exercises at minimum intensity. This is because muscle burns more, increasing metabolism.
2) To increase bone density:Â higher bone density is the first protection against osteoporosis, especially in women who over time witness a progressive weakening of the bones.
3) To improve your mood: increasing lean mass affects mood. The more you develop physical strength, the more endorphins are produced.
4) To improve health:Â more lean mass reduces the risk of obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disorders.
5) To improve posture:by working on your muscles, you help posture, supporting the spine better.
