WhatsApp: how to hide your profile photo

WhatsApp: how to hide your profile photo

Privacy today is increasingly taken into consideration However, many are still “distracted” and often publish information that can end up in the wrong hands. This happens in particular on social networks where, even unintentionally, we end up inserting images or data that should actually remain private.

But maybe you already know … How many times have you opened WhatsApp to take a peek at a friend ‘s profile photo ? Well, today we approach the issue from the point of view of the “victim” being spied on.

If you don’t want other contacts to see your profile picture, this mini guide is for you. In a few steps we will see how to hide your WhatsApp profile photo so that your friends can no longer see it and stop – as they say in these cases – to “mind your business”. Then, if you change your mind, you can seem to go back and show yourself in photos in all your beauty.

If you are interested in not being “seen” on WhatsApp by other people, I also point out this post on how to know who sees your last access on WhatsApp . I think it will come in handy.

How to hide WhatsApp profile photo:

  1. Open the WhatsApp application.
  2. Once inside, click on Settings (1) (the gear icon at the bottom right of the screen on iPhone, the three dots at the top on Android) and click on Accounts (2)
  3. Then click on Privacy
  4. On the next screen, several Privacy options will appear. Click on Profile picture
  5. And it is from this screen that WhatsApp allows you to choose who can see your photo. As you can see there are three choices: everyone , my contacts , none . To hide the profile picture, click on “none”, as shown in the picture

Done! From now on, none of your contacts will be able to see your profile picture anymore. Alternatively, you can choose to show the photo only to your contacts (i.e. to all the owners of the phone numbers you have saved in the address book) or to everyone (anyone who adds your phone number and tries to contact you via chat on WhatsApp).

This option is useful in many cases, for example if you also use WhatsApp for work and do not want to show colleagues a profile picture that is not really “professional”.

How to hide the photo by deleting the number:

  2. Click  Profile picture.
  3. Select the item  My Contacts
  4. Now go to the phone book and delete the number.

3 things to know about the WhatsApp profile picture

After seeing how to change profile photos, let’s see some useful information on the subject, hoping to remove any doubts from those who have any (if there are still questions, you can use the comment box below or send a message from the page “ask all ‘expert’ which can be accessed from the top menu).

  • If you’ve never changed your profile photo settings, anyone who adds your number will be able to see it.
  • If you block a contact , they will continue to see the last profile photo you uploaded. It will not see new updates instead.
  • The procedure that is explained in this guide was carried out as an example on an Apple iPhone phone, but it can also be applied to Android and other models (the screens may vary but in principle they all remain very similar).
