The 21-day diet from Dr. Oz’s new book
It is entitled ” Eating is the cure ” and is a book written by the famous Dr. Mehmet Oz, a renowned cardiologist as well as the author and presenter of the famous Dr. Oz Show, of which I have spoken and written a lot on Dcomedieta.
In the new book by Dr. Oz, published in Italy by Sperling, the doctor explains how to follow a 21-day diet based on a healthy diet and a special 3-day detox to increase weight loss and purify yourself.
In addition to recipes rich in fruits, vegetables, fish and legumes or Greek yogurt, and the meal plan for effective weight loss, Oz lists a list of functional foods or superfoods. These are foods that can help us achieve better health, purify us and allow us to fill up with antioxidant substances to help intestinal regularity, metabolism, the immune system and protect us from the damage of aging.
In this article, Dr. Oz himself exclusively introduces his book to readers and talks about the 21-day diet.
THE 21-DAY DIET IN DR OZ’S NEW BOOK

The dangers of visceral fat .
Dr Oz showed live a panniculus of visceral fat versus the normal intestinal lipid lining, showing viewers the big difference. But what causes visceral fat? For Oz the problem is the typical Western diet: meals rich in sugar and fat together, often based on processed foods, are fattening. Visceral fat prevents our vital organs from functioning properly.

The original title of Dr. Oz’s book is “Food can fix it”.
After explaining what happens with the accumulation of visceral fat and what happens when the arteries become blocked, Dr. Oz explains how this can be remedied with the right diet. The supermarket can be the grave of our health, but it can also turn into a pharmacy that treats us. It is enough to understand which foods to choose and make a correct diet.

And what is the right diet? It is based on the acronym “FIXES” (we say cure).
F stands for FATS , or fats: fats should not be eliminated, but you have to choose the right fats, healthy ones or “fats with benefits”. Olive oil, a little avocado, a handful of almonds or walnuts every day or the healthy fats of fish are to be preferred.
I stands for IDEAL PROTEIN , or the right proteins to lose weight and stay healthy: organic eggs, fish, tofu and tempeh and lean meats such as chicken and veal, while other red meats should be eaten in moderation.
X stands for EXTRA FRUIT AND VEGETABLES , that is extra fruit and vegetables: vegetables should be eaten in abundance, added to centrifuged and smoothies. Especially leafy vegetables, broccoli and citrus fruits.
And it stands for ENERGIZING CARBOHYDRATES or carbohydrates that provide both fiber and the right energy: legumes, whole grains, wholemeal bread and sweet potatoes are an example.
Finally S stands for SPECIAL OCCASIONS SUGARS , that is all the sugars and sweet foods that we can use but with extreme moderation and only on special occasions or at least a little on Sundays. Organic honey can instead be used in daily nutrition, as well as a glass or half a glass of red wine.
