Gigabyte was present at the Dreamhack fair in Leipzig , well known in the computer and ESport environment, to present the new AORUS line up; in the meantime, the GameLegends editorial team flew there to test the power of these products first hand. As soon as we arrive we notice the stand of the brand in question, proving in our opinion the best among those present both for presentation and for reception. All the new projects were exhibited and included some stations for notebook competitions, where the performance of these new AORUS branded objects could be tested. The new range consists of five new motherboards, new laptop and desktop PC models . The motherboards presented are the following:
– GA-Z270X-Gaming 9
– GA-Z270X-Gaming 8
– GA-Z270X-Gaming 7
– GA-Z270X-Gaming 5
– GA-Z270X-Gaming K5

The Taiwanese brand assured us that other mobos will soon be released , which even if with similar characteristics will be different from each other. Gigabyte over the years has accustomed us to a very high quality, also present in these 5 new products despite the aesthetic part being more accurate. All the objects in question possess the Z270 chipset with lga 1151 socket , this means extreme compatibility with the sixth and seventh generation Intel processors . As you well know, we previewed the Z270X-Gaming 7 and Z270X-Gaming 9 in JanuaryFurthermore, during the presentation we were informed of the possibility of purchasing a bundle for each of the cards. The Gaming 8 and 9 can be purchased with a discount of 40 euros for shopping on Steam included in the package, while the Gaming 7, 5 and K5 include one for 20 euros . While waiting for the release of future motherboards, let’s look at these hi-tech gems with an analytical eye.

RGB Fusion and Smart Fan Control are the new frontier!

First of all, we can say that Gigabyte has done things big for all users who, for whatever reason, wanted to customize their card or case. In the manufacturer’s app center we can find the RGB Fusion application , which allows the control of all the LEDs on the chipset, giving it the ability to blink or not. The chances of modding increase by allowing you to use them for connected lights; colors that can be manipulated to use them as an alarm ( Intelligent Mode , which colors vary according to the temperature of the components), or even to send them to the rhythm of music. We will have the possibility to save our favorite profiles so as to have a rainbow effect, giving a different color for each component.

Smart Fan Control is an innovation for mobos, as it allows them to have between 5 and 8 connections for ventilation and dissipation . It is not limited to just the high number of connectors but they are all 4-pin, this allows the management of everything related to cooling through the new Smart Fan 5 software . The real novelty is that the connectors are considered hybrids: they allow automatic recognition of the type of fan, heatsink, pump and radiator connected.

What are the differences between the versions?

We note that the differences from the Z270X-Gaming K5 up to the Z270X-Gaming 9 , in addition to the size and price range are:

-The Gaming 9 mounts the Woterblock EKWB, while the Gaming 8 mounts the Waterblock Bitspower; we remind you that this innovative system allows the chipset to be cooled in an optimal way, ensuring minimum temperatures even at maximum performance .
-Each card has the Killer LAN GB + Intel chip , except the Gaming K5 which is equipped with the Killer 2500 and the Gaming 9 which has the Killer Doubleshot-X3 Pro .
-The Gaming 9with its E-ATX form factor it allows a latest generation 4-way sli in spite of the others which are ATX with a 3-way sli.

As usual Gigabyte mounts the double UEFI chip on each card, guaranteeing extra security in case of BIOS compromise; on the AORUS white USB ports have been implemented on the rear I / O panel, in which by inserting a key in FAT16 / 32 format it is possible to directly update the BIOS. And if all this were not enough to convince the most inclined to constantly change the pieces of a PC? The Taiwanese brand has also thought of this by creating special and very resistant sockets, which allow easy insertion of the sockets on the board, also avoiding the risk of bending the pins . Resistance and accessibility are the best words to describe these new cards.

Let’s not forget the other products in the range!

As mentioned at the beginning, notebooks were also presented, to be precise three and all with the new NVidia GeForce GTX 10. The Aorus X3 V6 Plus, the smallest of the three, the Aorus X5 v6 and the Aorus X7 v6 , all equipped with an RGB Fusion keyboard and with a decidedly SLIM profile for the product category.
Now let’s examine some details:

-The Gigabyte Aorus X3 v6 Plus boasts a 13.9-inch IGZO screen with a resolution of 3200 x 1800 pixels, considered slightly larger than an ultrabook, weighing just 1.8 kilograms , but with “desktop replacement” specifications. Inside, there is space for an overclocked Intel Core i7 processor and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 with 6 GB GDDR5.

-The AORUS X5 v6 features a 15.6 inch IPS 3K panel, alternatively a Full HD with Nvidia G-Sync and 120Hz refresh !! Something truly breathtaking for all lovers of multiplayer first-person shooters. The components of this model porevede: an Intel Core i7-6820HK processor, with 8GB or 16GB of DDR4 RAM and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 with 8GB of GDDR5 memory .

-The X7 v6 model is the spearhead, in addition to having a screen with a 17.3-inch diagonal with UHD resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels) and QHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) from 120Hz , it is the only one in able to host a GTX 1080 with 5GB of GDDR5X memory on board ! Also here as for the X5 we find the Intel Core i7-6820HK, and 8 / 16GB of RAM.

As for the desktops, the new BRIX have been presented: now they will have compatibility with the seventh generation processors and will also be produced in the gaming field! You’ve got it right now the computers that have become famous for their limited space and are sometimes used as servers will “dress up” in Kaby Lake architecture and mount the latest generation GPUs.

Also this year Gigabyte, with its new AORUS collection, has beaten the competition by showing its eagle claws! What do you think of the new line up?
