Queen Elizabeth II’s diet unveiled by her cook
He is 94 years old and has an iron-like health. Plus, she always had a normal body weight, despite the rumor that she loved good food. The diet of Queen Elizabeth II of England was finally revealed by her private cook, Darren McGrady, who also wrote a book about the recipes made for Buckingham Palace.
Let’s see together how to eat in the royal house of England.
THE DIET OF QUEEN ELIZABETH II
Darren revealed to the British weekly Hello that every week the queen receives a meal menu, even bound in red leather, with directions to the recipes.
The daily menus are finally finalized and discussed three days before, in order to be able to organize with the shopping.
The final menu decision is up to you alone. And God forbid!
In general, something always changes, especially if he has guests for lunch and dinner among family members.
The queen takes the trouble to cross out anything she doesn’t like, call the cook and propose the variations.
THE DIET OF QUEEN ELIZABETH II: THE MENU YOU DON’T EXPECT
He has breakfast twice.
The queen basically has breakfast twice. Upon awakening she takes a cup of bitter Earl Gray tea with some biscuits, which is served in her room. She subsequently takes her place in the private dining room, where she is served her favorite breakfast of hers. Nothing English, actually. Yogurt, cereals, toast with selection of jams. It can be said that Queen Elizabeth is one of us with a predilection for sweet foods for breakfast!
But she sometimes she orders the salty version. In this case she is served toast, tea, a plate with smoked herring or smoked haddock fish. The fondness for herring, sometimes even as a late night snack, explains the cook, is something of a leftover from the war period.
Lunch
Lunch varies depending on whether you are dining alone or in company. At lunch the queen stays light (and I think you, with two breakfasts). If she eats alone, she usually chooses a fish dish with vegetables. For example, she baked sole with a side of spinach. She instructs not to serve bread, pasta or potatoes for lunch.
English tea… with cake
The Queen loves sweets. According to the cook, five o’clock tea is an opportunity to have a chocolate chip cookie or a piece of ginger cake served with the tea. In the company of mini-sandwiches of cucumber, smoked salmon and eggs. In short, no scones .
French dinner
At dinner, the Queen prefers traditional English or French dishes based on meat or fish, with sauces and vegetables. The appetizer is often a smoked fish pate that she loves, so much so that she has it prepared even when those fish are out of season, having them delivered fresh from other countries.
The main course is a veal steak or venison fillet with cream of mushrooms or other vegetables accompanied by French sauces.
Otherwise fish, always with French vegetables and sauces. For example the Mornay sauce.
But you can’t finish the evening meal without a treat. Her cook explains that the Queen loves sweets, especially she is addicted to chocolate. If there are options for chocolate desserts, especially cakes, on the weekly menu, Darren explains, he’s sure she’ll choose those.
Her favorite after-dinner cake is called “ Queen’s Perfection Pie ” and is essentially a custard tart with a cream base and black and white chocolate flakes forming a sunburst pattern.
Otherwise fresh fruit: he prefers strawberries and peaches from his countryside.
In short: congratulations to the Queen who manages to keep fit with so much good of God!
That the secret to getting to her age with such mental clarity and verve is giving in to chocolate?
