Operation light: false dietician accused

Operation light: false dietician accused

false dietician who worked in Palermo, prescribing not only diets to her patients, but also slimming supplements from a well-known international company.
She of which she obviously she was the representative.

She charged 50 euros for the visit and the diet, and her collaborators were not professional operators, but housewives who thus made ends meet with her.
And they helped her by making visits and prescribing products in turn.

Thanks to what has been called ” Operation Light “, the investigators managed to indict the false dietician, a 67-year-old woman from Messina.

She would have set up in Palermo, in the Cruillas neighborhood, a professional dietary and nutrition studio, with scales, beds and cosmetics, which disguised itself as a non-profit association. Her clients were pushed to do blood tests and allergy tests by which the phony dietician created the diet plans.

And of course he was hiding behind fake titles, boasting a professionalism he didn’t have .
To her unfortunate patients, he not only served up slimming diets with the promise of making them lose weight in no time, but obviously urged them to buy a variety of products. She thus ensured a double income.

At the moment the Fiamme Gialle have seized his studio. But what does this teach us?
It teaches us that we must be very careful when we turn to a professional.

The internet can be a more useful tool than word of mouth in these cases. Looking for references, or the name of the professional in the national order of dieticians or in that of biologists, can help us identify false professionals.
Which unfortunately abound in Italy.

But also ask what qualifications have those who propose a diet .
And be wary if instead of recognized qualifications, such as a medical degree and specialization for the dietician or a degree in biology for the nutritionist, the person gets lost in small talk and talks about alternative diplomas.

As you know, I have a degree in bio-nutrition, and by law I cannot prescribe diets.
Unfortunately, many people with a similar title to mine offer themselves as nutritionists, wellness professionals or otherwise , to the detriment of those who place their trust in them.

These people are adept at promising safe and easy weight loss results, obviously for a fee.
And they are everywhere, starting with, alas, from the gyms.

But no weight loss is safe if our health is at stake. To learn more about the various professionals who can operate in the diet sector in Italy, in which cases and with which paths, read this article of mine.
