Menopause: the most effective remedies
Menopause can bring with it hot flashes, lack of concentration and mood disturbances. Let’s see which are the most effective remedies to alleviate some possible ailments in this phase of female life.
Menopause is a physiological phase of female life that can be accompanied by hot flashes, mood disorders and other symptoms that can also be countered with some particularly effective supplements : let’s see which ones.
What are the disorders of menopause
The term menopause indicates the cessation of spontaneous menstruation, a phenomenon that normally occurs around the age of fifty as a consequence of the reduction in the production of estrogen and progesterone by the ovaries.
Menopause represents a natural phase in the life of every woman which can however cause  various kinds of disorders affecting the gynecological system, blood circulation, skeletal system and behavior and mood.
Menopausal disorders include, for example, hot flashes , headaches , dry skin and mucous membranes , anxiety and depression , fatigue , loss of memory and concentration , overweight and bone decalcification .
Usually the symptoms of menopause are treated with the administration of hormones that reduce hot flashes, slow down the decalcification of the bones, improve the hydration of the skin and mucous membranes and promote a good mood.
Hormonal treatments are contraindicated in some situations, such as in the case of diabetes and hypertension, therefore it is advisable to consult a doctor.
In addition to hormonal therapies, there are safe effective remedies , capable of relieving the symptoms of menopause and improving the quality of life.

Phytoestrogens: useful aid for menopausal disorders
Phytoestrogens are substances of plant origin with a chemical structure and action similar to estrogens . They are very common in nature and there are different types: isoflavones and coumestrans are the phytoestrogens that have more estrogenic activity than others.
Isoflavones are present in many foods, especially legumes. For example, soy contains high amounts of genistein and daidzein, two isoflavones that have shown important estrogenic activity.
Another plant rich in isoflavones is Pueraria lobata, known as Kudzu , a climbing species used in perimenopausal syndrome and circulation disorders.
Cumestranes are found mainly in red clover , as well as in bean sprouts, peas and Brussels sprouts.
Although isoflavones and cumestranes are found in various foods, the intake of phytoestrogens through the diet is still insufficient therefore it is more convenient and effective to resort to supplementation, which should start from premenopause , that is the period that anticipates menopause, characterized from menstrual irregularities.
Natural remedies in menopause
The main natural remedies used to counteract the symptoms of menopause are soy, red clover , which are often associated with black cohosh , sage and other herbs .
These remedies are taken orally, in the form of a supplement, to combat hot flashes , mood swings , prevent bone demineralization and counteract dryness of the vaginal mucosa .
- Soy ( Glycine max ) is a legume widely used for food purposes and is one of the richest foods in isoflavones. The drug consists of seeds and is taken in the form of an extract.
- Red clover ( Trifolium pratense ) is another remedy used for menopausal disorders, towards which it is effective thanks to the content of phytoestrogens. The flowers are used, always in the form of an extract.
- Pueraria or “Kudzu” ( Pueraria lobata ) is a climbing plant of the Fabaceae family. The dried root is rich in isoflavones and is used in perimenopausal syndrome, in the treatment of hypertension and blood circulation disorders, and to relieve migraines.
- Sage ( Salvia officinalis ), the drug of which consists of the flowering and dried tops, is also rich in natural phytoestrogens and is used to combat the symptoms of menopause. It is taken in the form of mother tincture and appears to be effective against hot flashes and night sweats, typical and early signs of menopause.
- Black cohosh ( Cimicifuga racemosa ) is a perennial herb native to the temperate zones of North America and known as women’s grass. The drug consists of dried roots and rhizomes and is generally taken as an alcoholic extract or dry extract in capsules.
