Kundalini Meditation: Technique and Benefits

Kundalini  meditation  is a form of Osho meditation aimed at awakening a peculiar form of energy, called  Kundalini . With  Kundalini  it is customary to mean a form of  residual energy , coming from creation, localized in each of us. It is a generative force, different from the traditional energies of  prana  (life energy) and  fohat  (energy of movement). In the latent state, the Kundalini dwells in the area of the sacrum, located at the base of the spine, in the area of the perineum, which locates  Muladhara , the lowest of the  chakras .

Kundalini meditation, benefits and techniques

History and origin of Kundalini meditation

The term Kundalini derives from kundala , which stands for “coiled, coiled, spiral”. This is because, in the latent or dormant state, the Kundalini is wrapped in three and a half coils, like a snake.

For several years, knowledge of this energy was reserved for a few and never passed on to the masses. A saint named Markandeya described this fourth dimension as a blessing from the Primordial Mother . The second to have dealt with the subject was Adi Shankaracharya . In the twelfth century, Gyaneshwara  decided to make the topic of spiritual ascent clearer to ordinary people.

In the sixteenth century, several saints then treated the Kundalini.

In reality, the knowledge of Kundalini did not stop exclusively in India. It is found in many classical cultures, albeit in different forms: Athena in Greece, Minerva in ancient Rome, and  Kwan Yin in China.

Benefits of Kundalini Meditation

The raising of the Kundalini allows you to experience, in full awareness , new states of consciousness, accompanied by a series of phenomena of a physical, sensorial and perceptive nature.

When awakened, Kundalini manifests itself through knowledge of the past, present and future, with strong awareness, as well as an expansion of consciousness .

Thanks to the beneficial action that Kundalini meditation exercises on the chakras, and on the subtle in general, the practitioner is able to achieve a state of complete well -being , a sense of joy and unconditional harmony .

This energy is also related to the reserve of sexual energy . Kundalini conveys sexual energy in its radical form, converting it into high frequency spiritual energy, which allows the development and activation of paranormal activities such as telepathy, matter / energy conversion and communication with other entities.

Description of the technique

Kundalini awakens with Yoga meditation, which includes Kundalini Yoga, Mantra Yoga, Hatha Yoga , Laya Yoga or Kriya Yoga .

We provide below some simple directions for a Kundalini meditation session .

Find a quiet, distraction-free place. Check the lighting and temperature of the room. Find a comfortable position, whether sitting or lying down.

Calm your mind and thoughts. Begin to relax the whole body, starting from the face, passing through the jaws, shoulders, neck, arms and hands. Relax your torso, hips, legs and feet.

Feel and listen to the relaxation. Concentrate now on the slow, deep breath that enters through the nose. Hold and then exhale slowly and completely. Breathe like this three times.

Focus your attention on the chakras, from the top of the head (crown of the open Chakra). Watch a white light entering the crown chakra and slowly coiling like a spiral down the spine.

White light travels through the body, meeting the different chakras, until it reaches the coccyx chakra , where the Kundalini energy resides. The energy emerges from the cocyx chakra and coils along the spine like a snake.

When you are ready, go back to your physical body. Slowly, start moving your eyelids and limbs. Slowly open your eyes again. Finally, relax and harmonize the acquired energies. There are also other Kundalini meditation techniques.

Suitable for

The awakening of the Kundalini should not be forced. In ancient times, it could only take place when all the practitioner’s chakras were purified and open: since there were no obstacles, the Kundalini could go up and cross them. The awakening of the Kundalini can also happen also by resonance, when we find ourselves in the presence of another person whose Kundalini is already awakened.

Kundalini meditation is suitable for those who want to deepen the yoga tradition, as it is imbued with the spirituality of Indian philosophy. Furthermore, this form of energy awakening is useful for those who are experiencing a moment of stress or an important change in life, as it gives balance and stability.

Where  Kundalini Meditation is practiced

Awakening the Kundalini is possible by attending Kundalini meditation courses or Kundalini yoga courses. Also, you can learn more by reading books on Kundalini meditation or watching the different videos on Kundalini meditation on the net.

Curiosity

The most used symbol to represent the Kundalini is the snake , a symbol of knowledge . Since ancient times, the snake has been considered synonymous with transformation, thanks to its ability to shed its skin.

The Staff of Asclepius or Caduceus of Hermes , a symbol of modern medicine, also features a snake wrapped around a stick.

Some meanings of the three windings are: the past, the present and the future; waking, sleeping and dreaming; subjective, sensory experience and absence of experience; harmony, action and matter.
