Go on the Colorado diet to lose 10 pounds

It’s called the Colorado diet, and it’s a regimen developed by two doctors James O. Hill and Holly R. Wyatt in their book “ State of Slim ”. The doctors, experts on obesity, starting from the observation that in the state of Colorado compared to other places in the United States there is a very low incidence of obese people, have set up a slimming program that allows you to lose 10 kilos in 8 weeks.
And they called this the “Colorado diet”.

COLORADO DIET: WHAT IT IS

  • The Colorado diet is a very, very good diet and above all simple to do . It is divided into phases.
  • The first phase allows you to lose 2 kg per week: you eat 6 times a day, you follow a list of foods and rules. Then you combine the foods as you like for three main meals and three snacks. It lasts two weeks.
  • The second phase lasts 6 weeks, and allows you to lose half a kilo to a kilo per week. The list of foods is wider, you follow the same rules of the first phase but with more freedom. There is also one free meal per week.
    In total, you can therefore lose at least 10 kilos, there are those who have lost almost double.
  • Finally, the third phase, that of maintenance, to be followed for no less than a month, in which the metabolism is restored and two free meals are allowed per week.

In this article I will explain the rules, adapting them to our eating habits, and how to do it with an example plan. Let’s start with phase 1.

COLORADO DIET: RULES
The rules are valid for each phase.

  • Rules.
  • Eat one food from protein group or group 1 with each meal.
  • Each meal must also include a portion of group 2 or 3 carbohydrates.
  • Group 2 carbohydrates are eaten at least 3 times a day.
  • Those in group 3 maximum three times a day.
  • Foods in group 4 can be eaten a maximum of 2 times a day.
  • Sweeteners, herbs and aromatic spices can be added.
  • In the morning you must have breakfast within an hour of waking up.
  • Strictly half an hour a day should be devoted to physical activity.
