Cannavacciuolo on a diet: the chef has lost 30 kilos, here’s how

The famous chef Antonino Cannavacciuolo went on a diet , with an important goal that I share: to lose weight slowly. Cannavacciuolo, one of the judges of the MasterChef Italia program, owner of several starred restaurants and clubs including the famous Villa Crespi as well as a television presenter, had in fact weighed 155 kilos.

A weight certainly not easy to bear, although the famous chef from Campania is also very tall, over one meter and ninety.
However, the excess weight was accompanied by health problems, excess fatigue, difficulty resting and recovering. And so for some years now, Cannavacciuolo has been trying to change course. The result is that today he weighs about 126 kilos, with the determination to lose a kilo every three or four months or, as he says, “the scale must only go down, it must not go up”.
Let’s see how he did it.

Chef Cannavacciuolo has lost 30 kilos, here’s how

The first thing that stands out from Antonino Cannavacciuolo’s slimming experience is movement.

She has in fact bought a treadmill for some time, and when she occasionally goes off the rails she gets in with push-ups and running. In people with severe overweight cardiovascular activity, if moderate, is a great help. It improves the respiration of mitochondria, those organelles that guarantee the survival and well-being of our cells.

This has an impact on reducing the risk of diabetes because it promotes insulin sensitivity, and is a quick and convenient way for non-athletes to burn calories.
After losing the first few pounds, you can (and should) add bodyweight exercises to this routine to train lean mass.

The second thing is the compensation trick

In fact, Cannavacciuolo is following a lighter Mediterranean diet, which is supporting his weight loss. But if like him you have the problem of dinners or other events outside, we can learn from the chef the trick of the compensation day. Often this trivial thing, which consists in keeping light the day before or the day after an occasion of cheating, is not done by most people, who accumulate weight over the years. The problem is often not everyday nutrition, but the tendency to not keep light even knowing that you will eat more.

So you carry a weight of one or two kilos, which increases year after year. It takes little to find yourself with 10 or 15 kilos overweight in the space of 5 or 6 years: the result of a mistake here and one there, parties, holidays, and a sedentary lifestyle.
When, on the other hand, keeping light after having a heavier meal allows us to avoid resorting to drastic diets. See here how to make a classic compensation meal.

The third thing I would like to recommend from the experience of the famous chef is undoubtedly the slowness of his weight loss

This causes the body to gradually settle on a lower weight, reducing the risk of gaining weight again (yo-yo effect) and above all making weight loss a less traumatic experience. Losing a kilo even every three or four months is undoubtedly a goal towards a longer weight, but it is all about small sacrifices, steps towards a healthier lifestyle that will then become habits. And above all, the risks of regaining weight are minimized.
