At what age does the metabolism slow down?

slow metabolismWe all know that after a certain age the metabolism slows down, but from what age? I often collect the most disparate answers when I ask this simple question. There are people who believe that the metabolism abruptly slows down after the age of forty , others after the age of thirty, women after menopause, men even from 45/50 years. Well, I have some bad news to give you. T he metabolism begins to slow down from the age of 25 or even soon after the age of 20. We are the ones who notice it the most: in general, people notice that the metabolism is no longer what it used to be around the age of 35! Why? Simple: before the variations were minimal and literally you don’t give weight to it.
If even before the age of 25 our life was studded with diets and diet failures, moreover, we have, as they say, wasted our best years, those in which our metabolism was fast on its own. From the age of twenty-five onwards, a slowdown in metabolism occurs every year, which is obviously subjective : every ten years there is a decrease of 8/10 percent. In the meantime, hopefully our diet has changed and so has our lifestyle. If this were not the case, we would find ourselves with a few extra pounds to dispose of . Which in fact happens, on time. The question then is: why don’t we all get fat?

It should be known that, in parallel with the slowed metabolism, there is a decrease in muscle tissue from the age of 25 onwards . Muscles are being lost and this is also why the metabolism slows down. Think of it as mother nature would think: what is useless we do not need and must be disposed of. On the threshold of adulthood, we have a good chunk of lean mass if we are of normal build. As we get older, if we lead a sedentary lifestyle, that lean mass is useless.
This means that you have to lead an active life to counteract the metabolic slowdown and progressive muscle decay. Only in this way, will we be able to keep the metabolism always fast enough, because we will not lose muscle but we will always have a good lean mass that will prevent us from gaining weight despite the physiological slowdown.
