One of the main reasons that pushes the average user to buy a new mobile device -Android or iOS that it is-, is very often linked to the fact that the latter begins to show signs of slowdown, episodes of crashes, optimizations that are not adequate for the new ones. released software and other such situations. Apple knows something about it in particular , which a few years ago was accused of “ premature obsolescence ”.
The fine, worth 10 million euros , was recently confirmed by the Lazio Regional Administrative Court. Apple, in fact, after having received this sanction, promptly appealed, also requesting, among others, a review of the decision which, apparently, was again confirmed on the basis of what was decided by the Italian Competition Authority. .
This sanction was born by virtue of the events that occurred in 2018, where Apple was recognized as an “incorrect and aggressive commercial practice”, keeping its devices updated but causing them to worsen without being notified to end users. In particular, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s devices were taken into consideration following the iOS 10 and 10.1.2 updates .The Lazio TAR recognized this incorrect Apple behavior, which suggested to the owners of the devices in question to update the smartphone without specifying what they were going towards, with the final consequence that the user was then forced to replace the model that has now become obsolete with a newer one, thus gaining an economic advantage.
