Adele Puhn’s 5-day miracle diet

Every now and then I am pleased to go back to the past, that is, to offer you famous slimming regimes even if little known in Italy that not only have nothing to envy to the diets of recent years, but very often have also been a “source of inspiration” (so to speak) for many diets today. This is certainly the case with Dr. Adele Puhn’s 5-day miracle diet , a biologist and nutritionist who has been practicing for over 26 years, and is known for writing a series of books in which she emphasized how to keep blood sugar under control with the right foods and right meal times lead to weight loss.
One of these books is “ The 5 day Miracle Diet“, A real bestseller published for the first time about twenty years ago, and then subjected to numerous reprints thanks to the word of mouth of those who tried it. The book has also been translated into Italian, but alas it is out of print: I had to read it in English.

The 5-day miracle diet is based on this idea: in five days you can lose weight (even two kilos) and establish a new weight loss plan that allows you to continue losing weight once you understand the scheme to follow. So Puhn’s miracle diet doesn’t really last just 5 days . In 5 days, a new mechanism for regulating blood sugar, reducing nervous hunger and weight loss is established: then you continue with the same pattern until you have lost all the extra pounds. There are no calories to count or precise portion control except for some foods. From this regime dairy products are not recommended, but not prohibited (simply do not abuse them), and pasta is not recommended but not prohibited (perhaps it is better to introduce it in the maintenance phase): the maintenance phase itself is subjective. You simply eat more, but the pattern is fixed and can be pushed forward for life.
On page two we see what the scheme consists of,
which is divided into two food plans.
