A woman slims with the power of the mind
A story that has gone around the world, so much so that they even talked about it on the news (in America): a woman, such as  Heather Jones , claims to have lost four sizes in a year without having done any diet, but only with power Of the mind. Incredible but true, it’s not the first time I’ve heard something like this: even Jon Gabriel, famous in the United States for inventing the Gabriel method , has always said he lost a lot of weight with a healthy diet, a lot of exercise and “thinking thin “.
Heather Jones wouldn’t even diet:she would simply focus on a leaner image of herself, and think about it so intensely every day that it became a obsession, a kind of mantra. She told the newspapers that she gained weight seven years before her, after the tragic death of her partner, which caused her severe depression. She would thus have embarked on the path of the “Emotional Freedom Technique” a sort of autogenic training technique, in which the focus was to tell her body to “take care of her”, focusing on a happy and lean, healthy image. The whole story is documented here.
The trick according to Heather would be in the effort of a constantly positive thought towards oneself, without sending messages of hatred and despair towards her own body.
All nonsense? Well, I don’t think so . Not only because Jon Gabriel has always said the same thing (check out his story here ), but also because there have been studies on it.
For example, a study would have established that the mind plays a key role in the growth of muscle mass, so much so that many sportsmen talk about the mind-muscle connection as a useful technique for increasing lean mass ( here ). In this study, for example, while there were smaller results than the group actively exercising, the groups of volunteers who exercised mentally (i.e. imagining in a sense the exercise and focusing on an idea of greater strength) would still have obtained excellent results.
Underlying many theories and techniques of self-awareness / mindfulness, it has been found that positive thoughts and a positive projection of oneself would increase the chances of losing weight and improving one’s health ( here) .
Other techniques, such as tapping , would be helpful in reducing nervous hunger.
More information can be found online: mental training has been a reality in Italy for some time. The coaches ensure that it is possible to lose weight without a diet, but with the right mental training. Read for example here.Â
