Description and symptoms of diarrhea

Dog diarrhea: natural cures and remedies
Diarrhea in dogs is a frequent phenomenon . Dogs usually gulp down any leftover food they find on the street and lick other dogs’ urine. Thirst encourages them to drink foul and toxic waters.
The presence in the intestine of indigestible substances (hair, bones, paper, wood) can also cause loose stools.Â
Diarrhea can sometimes also be associated with vomiting. It is not necessary to worry if the episode is limited to one or two soft stools, but if the entity is more serious it is good to remedy.
In the event that mucus and blood are also seen in the stool , and when abdominal pain occurs, it is best to seek the advice of the veterinarian .
Among the natural remedies against diarrhea, first of all, there is that of not trying in every way to stop the diarrheal phenomenon as soon as it occurs : diarrhea is an important means of self-care that the body puts in place. In addition, in the event of severe diarrhea, water, sodium and potassium are lost, causing dehydration.
It is advisable to make the animal drink a lot , not only water but also broth prepared with vegetables and a little meat, given at room temperature and without solid parts inside. Â
In all cases of diarrhea, of any nature, once the intestinal functions have improved, it is good to give the dog, daily, lactic ferments .
To counteract the intestinal absorption of toxins, it is also important to use activated vegetable carbon : it is found in the form of powder or, more easily, tablets. The dose ranges from 1 to 3 tablets 2-3 times a day. The tablets can be put in a mouthful , in food, or reduced to powder and administered mixed with water, with a syringe without a needle, directly into the mouth.
Carob powder  given up to a maximum of three times a day in variable doses depending on the size and weight of the animal (from half a teaspoon up to 4 teaspoons)  is useful against inflammation of the intestine .
Cat diarrhea: natural cures and remedies
In cats, diarrhea occurs less frequently but the intestinal mucosa of the animal has a greater tendency to become chronically inflamed.Â
The causes may be of food origin (intolerance, allergy, inappropriate food for the cat, changes in the diet, etc.); infectious or parasitic .
