Transparent discharge and ovulation
Transparent losses during ovulation are a completely normal phenomenon, which should not worry: let’s investigate the causes.
Any woman has, sooner or later, noticed small  transparent , watery and odorless leaks at certain times of the month. In reality, there is absolutely no reason to worry: it is a normal phenomenon, linked to ovulation .Â
Ovulation, what it is and when it occurs
Ovulation , in the female menstrual cycle, corresponds to the period in which the oocyte is expelled from the ovaries. This process occurs thanks to some hormonal changes , specifically the increase in estrogen that causes a spike in luteinizing hormone (LH). Ovulation occurs every month ; a can occur twice in a month.
The day before ovulation and the day of ovulation correspond to the most fertile days of the menstrual cycle. During this time, if the egg encounters a sperm, it can be fertilized and a pregnancy can occur .
If fertilization does not take place , the wall of the uterus detaches and menstruation occurs, with which the egg is also lost. Clearly, those who have unprotected sex can also get pregnant every other day of the month , although statistically the odds are lower.
Transparent losses during ovulation, the causes
During the menstrual cycle, therefore in the period between one menstruation and the next, hormone levels change and the consistency of the cervical mucus also changes . In fact, immediately after menstruation, the cervical mucus increases and appears whitish . As ovulation approaches, however, it becomes transparent and more watery .
Ovulation usually occurs about fifteen days before the onset of menstruation and is characterized by transparent and odorless losses; sometimes the phenomenon of ovulation can also involve slight pains in the uterus.
The presence of transparent losses before the cycle should therefore not frighten or alarm, since it is an absolutely normal phenomenon.
Leaks, when to seek medical attention
As we have seen, therefore, the transparent and odorless losses during the ovulation period are the natural consequence of hormonal changes. Transparent discharge in pregnancy is also a common phenomenon, which need not worry.
On the other hand, it is rarer to have transparent discharge in menopause , when vaginal secretions decrease physiologically: menopause is in fact characterized, among other things, by vaginal dryness .
On the other hand, when the leaks  – instead of being transparent, odorless and watery – are dense and foul-smelling , or have a grayish, yellow, dark red or brown color , it is good to consult a doctor to ascertain the causes.
Some losses may in fact represent a symptom of bacterial or fungal infections, including candida albicans , a very frequent and easily diagnosed and treatable fungal infection.
