One thing is now certain. New technologies are seriously beginning to be part of the daily life of gamers. While Sony is betting everything on virtual reality with Playstation VR , its long-time rival Microsoft has decided to use its energies in augmented reality with HoloLens . However, it has been a while since the Redmond company hasn’t released any new information about it.
During TED 2016, held from 15 to 19 February in the city of Vancouver, Alex Kipman wanted to give a practical demonstration of the potential of the peripheral with a demo set in a forest, on the Moon and on Mars. Subsequently, he released a statement about future plans for the device stating that he doesn’t want to make the same mistakes he made with the unfortunate Kinect and that he wants to bring HoloLens to market only at the right time: “ When the world is ready we will make it available. […] If a consumer bought it today he would say: <well, I spent 3000 dollars for this product with which I can only do 12 things and now it’s gathering dust> “.
