Bingeing on the weekend? A bad idea

First of all, hold on tight. I’m about to give you some bad news . One of those news that will undermine your confidence on the rule of “I eat healthy from Monday to Friday, I background with crap on the weekend”. Because it seems to our gut that we eat a healthy diet most of the time apart from Saturdays and Sundays or that we eat junk food all week makes no difference.

Let’s try to understand together why binge eating at the weekend even if during the week we were good and ate vegetables, according to a group of researchers, is equivalent to eating “badly” all the time: according to what researchers from the  University of New South say Wales , the disastrous impact on our intestinal flora would be identical, especially if, after eating healthy for five days, we tend to overeat on Saturdays and Sundays. Binge eating should always be avoided: this does not mean that you cannot break the rules, eat pizza or burgers on Saturday nights, or have Sunday lunch. The problem is in fact eating too much fatty or sugary food in large quantities, for two or three consecutive days (for example, there are those who start on Friday evening). At that point the benefits of a healthy diet are lost, at least judging by the intestinal flora .

Which would appear similar to those who eat the wrong diet every day, i.e. without fruit and vegetables and poorly nutritious.
The researchers came to this conclusion after analyzing the diet of the mice, some on a diet for only four days, some on a diet of junk food for the whole week. The more aggressive bacteria responsible for the extra pounds were in similar concentrations in both samples.
What else do the researchers suggest? Not to do diets of 3 or 4 days and then go back to bingeing or dietary and restrictive regimes if we then let ourselves go to excess after gaining weight. Binge eating, binge eating and yo yo diets would be unhealthy for our intestines anytime and anywhere.
