Enzymes, how to use them for natural weight loss
What are enzymes? It is a type of protein (they are mostly proteins) with particular abilities, those of accelerating certain chemical reactions . At the digestive level, for example, having good enzymatic activity is essential to assimilate what we eat, and, precisely for this reason, good enzymatic activity is also related to better digestive and metabolic abilities. And so we come immediately to the heart of the question: can improving our enzymatic profile at the digestive level put the body in a position to lose weight?
Apparently yes . As we know, our saliva contains enzymes, and we have enzymes in the intestine and obviously on the cellular level: but also in food there are enzymes. These can help supplement and improve our enzymatic capacity, promoting digestion and weight loss. In fact, some enzymes help us burn fat , others promote postprandial thermogenesis (so they help us burn calories), others help regulate blood sugar. When we don’t have the right enzymatic variety, digestion suffers and we tend to accumulate weight. For example, one of the arguments against aspartame was that it promoted the increase of body fat by blocking the digestive activity of certain enzymes (study). Another study found that the reason people tend to regain the weight they lost is because of an enzyme imbalance ( study ).
It is no coincidence that there are supplements based on enzymes for weight loss and in particular body fat, but while the scientific opinions on their validity continue to be conflicting, it is possible to improve our enzymatic capacity through nutrition for:
– improve digestion and assimilation of nutrients
– push the body to make better use of energy resources
