Foodspring protein foods: cheap but quality

Foodspring protein foods: cheap but quality

For some time I had spotted Foodspring, a German company that recently arrived in Italy, which offers protein and dietary foods (including slimming packages with replacement meals) and which struck me for two reasons: on the one hand, the fact that their products are of quality and focus on functional nutrition (i.e. on foods with particular nutritional properties, such as flax seeds, goji berries, coconut oil); on the other hand, the very good prices when compared to quality.
And today, after testing some of their protein foods, I decided to talk about them in detail, seeing what they can offer to those who want to stay fit and play sports and to those who want to lose weight instead.

FOODSPRING PROTEIN FOODS
1) Protein powder (if you are not an athlete skip this point): Foodspring protein powder (both whey and in a mix, the shake, which offers whey and casein) comes from milk pasture, and this is enough to make me prefer them to others. In fact, in recent times I have been favoring both meat and dairy products from grass-fed animals: they have higher quality fats, more of the Omega-3 type than Omega6, and are more natural, because animals ( herbivores) are fed with grass and not with cereals / flours / soybeans. The big problem so far was the cost. Grass-fed protein powders cost twice as much as regular proteinin sports supplement powder, while Foodspring has organic whey proteins at a price slightly higher than the non-organic ones of good brands (about 30 euros for 750 gr). They melt better and have a better, softer sweet taste, not too chemical. In fact, they contain a mix of sucralose and stevia to sweeten them. You can find them here.
There are also vegan ones, but I haven’t tasted them. A particular thing are the proteins useful for cooking, for making cakes, muffins, pancakes and so on and so forth, without the risk of product degradation: they are sold in a mix that is also resistant to high temperatures.

2) Protein foods for those who want to lose weight and make a low-carb : Foodspring protein bread is excellent and I have also talked about it in another article. It can be done at home very easily. I was skeptical when I prepared it but in cooking I had to change my mind. It can be kept for several days and is very full. Gluten free, it contains a mix of oleginous seeds, including flax seeds. Perfect stuffed, it can also be cooked in single portions, making sandwiches, and every time preparing it at home gives the advantage of having bread from the oven in less than half an hour of preparation. The pack of 5 lasts almost a month (about 22 euros the price). Other snacks I want to try are protein cornflakes(for breakfast, in soups, in salads, as a snack) and protein muesli for breakfast, in milk or yogurt.

3) Meal replacements for those who want to lose weight: Foodspring meal replacements have an excellent value for money, and were the reason why I “targeted” this company at the beginning. The shake contains about 100 calories, can be blended with 100 g of fruit and 100 g of vegetables of your choice or taken alone, and has various flavors, from coconut to chocolate. Price in line with other smoothies and shakes for weight loss, but always with organic proteins. Here.

4) Protein bars (as a replacement meal or as a protein supplement) : they are the least caloric if you look at the weight and have the same price as other non-organic ones (about 2.40 for a 60 gram bar). The bars that I sometimes buy in the gym cost two euros and something for 45 grams of product, same calories, more sugars and less proteins. The list of ingredients is excellent: in addition to proteins from grazing animals, there are almonds, a mix of fibers and raw cocoa. They are indeed very filling, and can replace a meal. 182 calories per serving. They are all good and even here, they don’t have that overly sweetish taste. They also exist in the paleo version.
Here.

5) Functional foods:from organic peanut butter, white chia seeds, coconut oil, to fruit and dried vegetable snacks (less caloric and healthier than the commercially available alternatives I tested) to seed and berry mixes and all coconut water. I think I’ll try them all. Here.
