6 tips to lose weight that are still valid

This article takes a cue from an Insider piece titled “Six Old School Weight Loss Tips That Actually Work”  .

The article lists, in practice, six tips for losing weight that were given as early as the fifties and sixties , and which are confirmed to be true even today.

In short, among many things that have been denied or revised, these tips for losing weight have defied time and new scientific studies. But you don’t necessarily know them.

Let’s find out together.

SIX TIPS FOR LOSING WEIGHT THAT ALWAYS ARE VALID

  1. Exercise in a group or with a partner.
Exercising is a good habit that we should strive to follow even when we are in a bad moment, because it takes a moment to let the urge pass, especially if you are just starting out.
To avoid the problem, you can do physical activity in company, that is to train in a group or in pairs, with a training partner.
In this way you are more motivated, and often you can make excellent training programs that take advantage of the synergy with the partner to have greater results.
As in the case of the ” couple workout ” or a specific workout for two people.
  2. Focus on cottage cheese.
As I also showed on Instagram, if you are not vegan do not neglect the consumption of cottage cheese as a protein food. If blended in a mixer they become an excellent cream, which is also the basis of the Budwig cream in its original recipe .

They are digestible and high in protein, and are often cheaper than Greek yogurt.
In the morning they are perfect for breakfast. Blend them with a little cocoa and cinnamon, half a banana or 100 gr of fruit of your choice, a tablespoon of oil seeds for a very fast cold porridge.
They have a high satiating power.

  3.  Cut back on sugar, but don’t overdo it with sweeteners either.
Sugar has invaded our tables relatively recently, i.e. starting from the 1800s if we look at the first large-scale industrial processes.
In the 1960s, however, the first sweeteners were born . Today we know that, while it is good to limit the consumption of simple sugars to 10% of our daily requirement, it is also better to avoid using sweetener everywhere.
  4. Eat more natural foods.
This advice was born in the seventies, a period in which the concept of healthism spreads and people start to think that industrial products are too present in the modern diet.

Today it is worse if possible. When I was a child there were already snacks, but the offer of frozen food and snacks was rather limited.
So the best was for your parents to buy you ice cream in the summer, or a popsicle.
And your mom used to lock up your first snacks.

Today the offer is so vast that there are many people who do not eat fruit and vegetables in the minimum recommended quantity of 5 portions.
Eating naturally is still excellent advice both to lose weight, reducing the energy density of food, and to stay healthy.

  5. Keep a food diary.
Today it is easier to follow this advice because there are calorie counter apps, once you wrote everything in a notebook.
It is an excellent advice for losing weight, if done well, that is, if we try to count everything we put in our mouth, without forgetting even the extra chip and weighing everything.
  6. Prepare meals at home.
It continues to be a valid recommendation for weight loss even today, because in this way we can take into account both condiments and raw materials, while those who often eat out must pay maximum attention.
