You may not know, but you have an eating disorder

A site that I consult often, because it is full of authoritative articles by nutritionists, dieticians and psychotherapists, is called Ravishly : if you know English and you are a woman, this site can really help you reflect on body image, on weight problems. and diet, on the problems of nervous hunger and on the various eating disorders, mainly with a purpose. To help women who struggle with excess pounds not to obsess over food , not necessarily follow aesthetic standards and feel good about themselves.
Unfortunately, over the years I have witnessed more and more frequently the difficulties of people who are affected by an eating disorder without knowing it, and who mistake a normal concern about “what I eat today” to a conflict with the food that poisons them for years .

Because they want to be leaner, because they often believe they are good for themselves with healthy choices but end up undermining their health, because they tend to obsess about the weight of the scales, about food yes and food no. For this reason, and for these people, I decided to summarize here an important article by Catherine Dooner, who wrote a book entitled “The diet of not caring” (translated not quite literally, if you click here you find the real name) and how I have been interested in everything related to diets and food for years.
Her article, which appeared in Ravishly, reads: Maybe you don’t know you have an eating disorder.
In this article, the author introduces herself as a former health worker: for years she considered herself as a very careful person to eat a healthy diet, and she considered all the people who cared about macronutrients, calories, food origin and their health, as sensitive to the subject, but certainly not fixed. What’s wrong with wanting to improve your diet? Or wanting to be a size smaller? Only with time, Catherine realized that she suffered from an eating disorder: the time wasted worrying about food, where to buy it, how to cook it, how much and when to eat, was certainly greater than that of a normal person. Eating had become a stressful thing when it really shouldn’t be:each of us should have a sense of hunger, the desire for certain foods, the natural desire to feed. Eating shouldn’t be more than that.
