A few days ago the death of the master Kentaro Miura , known above all for his great work Berserk , shook the spirits of all manga readers who have come across, at least once, the superb trait and the dramatic story written by the sensei. In the general condolences, the questions related to his work and the choice of whether to leave Berserk unfinished or whether to have one of his assistants conclude immediately captured the minds of fans.
The designer and writer Kentaro Miura died at the age of 54 from an aortic dissection (the death occurred in early May, although the news was released a few days ago). In the editorial office we also thought about what could have happened, thinking about it in an article taking case histories close to the world of manga.
Now, however, the confirmation seems to arrive: the post by @MRko_aki__ , Kentaro Miura’s assistant, wrote a cryptic tweet 18 hours ago on his Twitter account, perhaps linked to a few questions, which reads a simple sentence, “Yes, I’ll do my best “. In all likelihood, the question is just who will continue Berserk .
Most likely the answer is therefore linked to a press statement perhaps made by the company that holds the rights to the work, and which therefore immediately wanted to reassure the fans. On the other hand, a similar mechanism is not uncommon, also to give a worthy conclusion to something so well done and cared for, almost as a tribute to the creator.
Berserk is a dark medieval fantasy that tells the story of Gatsu , a mercenary warrior capable only of fighting. Growing up in a company of fortune, over time he will meet friends, love and above all violence, betrayal and lots of blood. The whole story, divided into narrative arcs, had been slow for a long time (also due to the very refined writing and drawing of Kentaro Miura, which took a very long time to be produced).
