WhatsApp screenshots on stories and status: does the notification arrive?
Everyone knows that when you snapshot a story on Instagram , a notification is sent that notifies the user. And on WhatsApp ? What happens if a friend takes a screenshot of a story or status?
We immediately answer the question definitively.
Is a notification sent if you take a screenshot of a story (status) on WhatsApp?
The answer is NO .
If someone takes a screenshot of a story or status on WhatsApp, no notification or other type of alert is sent .
So if you were “afraid” of being discovered after a screen, you can rest easy. There is no such possibility on WhatsApp.
The only thing a user can see is how many people have seen the story (not who took a screenshot)
You can test it yourself. Post a random story and ask a friend to take a screenshot of the smartphone screen. Nothing will happen.
The same principle also applies to individual chats and groups.
WhatsApp does not send any notification if a user takes a screenshot of a message.
But beware, your friend will know you’ve seen his story!
When you view a friend’s WhatsApp story (status), they will be able to see how many people and who viewed it.
If it is true, therefore, that the screenshot is not notified, on the other hand if you open a WhatsApp story your contact will know that you have seen it.
As often happens, however, there is a solution for this too .
Let’s see what it’s about:
How to see a WhatsApp story or status without being seen
The thing is much simpler than you imagine.
To avoid letting your contacts know that you are viewing their stories, simply disable the read receipt in the WhatsApp settings.
How? Do this:
- Open WhatsApp and go to Settings
- Click on Account -> Privacy
- Disable the Read Receipts option
Done. Now you can see your friends’ statuses without us knowing.
NB If you want to know more about how not to be seen when you use the app, read this article: How to be invisible on WhatsApp .
There is only one small drawback .
Disabling the “Read confirmations” option will no longer see the blue double ticks that tell you when a message has been read.
If you want to continue to have the blue ticks, you must keep the “Read confirmation” option activated and deactivate it only when you want to see a story without being seen. A little boring, but it works.
