WhatsApp, is the new feature for screenshots coming?
WhatsApp is today one of the most used instant messaging applications in the world but its evolution does not seem to want to stop. According to rumors generated by an indication on the official translation site, WhatsApp is expected to introduce a new feature that allows users to take a screenshot of the chat without denting physical buttons.
ps What is a screenshot? Nothing more than a function to take a picture of what is contained on the screen. For example, if you now take a screenshot of the screen, you would just take a picture of the content you are reading 🙂
The news spread quickly on the net after the request to translate two sentences that read:
– delete screenshots
– add screenshots
Logically, therefore, if WhatsApp wants the translation of these phrases, it is very likely that it has already developed a new function that allows you to take screenshots of chats in an “automatic” way , that is without having to dent the two keys on the phone. as it normally happens on the iPhone.
Screenshot on WhatsApp… but why?
A question that has arisen to many users – I would say with full legitimacy – is this: but what is the point of inserting a function for screenshots on WhatsApp if it is possible to do them already with the phone? An “official” answer to this question does not exist (on the other hand, not even the existence of this new function has been officially confirmed by WhatsApp), but there are at least two plausible explanations :
1. Many users do not know that it is possible to take screenshots
2. WhatsApp may send a notification saying: “a screenshot has been taken of your chat”.
Option number 1 appears quite trivial . Of course, it could also be true – the level of familiarity with digital tools is on average quite low – but an update work usually has deeper motivations.
Point 2 could in fact be the key: WhatsApp will send a notification that warns when someone takes a screenshot to our chat, with a mechanism very similar to that of secret chats on Telegram .
And to make the function effective, it will block the ability to take a screenshot with the classic method (i.e. through the phone keys). In this way, no one could take a screenshot without the knowledge of the person concerned.
Furthermore, it would not be strange if WhatsApp inserted a “blue double check” style mechanism for screenshots as well. In fact, one could also think about the possibility of blocking screenshots even with the new function. Obviously, as with the blue ticks, those who activate the ” block screenshot ” will not be able to take screenshots either.
The reasoning may seem convoluted, but in terms of privacy, Whatsapp is very careful to “pamper” its users.
It is not to be excluded, returning to the comparison with Telegram, that WhatsApp screenshots associate a timed self-destruction , that mechanism that eliminates a message received a certain number of seconds after it has been read. This would significantly increase the security level of the messages, avoiding most of the possible photos on the screen taken with an external camera (for example from another phone).
Waiting for official communications , when using WhatsApp we always remember that on the other side of the phone there is someone who could capture what we are writing with a screenshot and send it to anyone. Never let your guard down.
