WhatsApp is preparing to introduce animated GIFs
WhatsApp allows you to share text, audio, photos, videos and, recently, PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint . But unlike other instant messengers it doesn’t support animated GIFs (those images that work like very short, endless videos) anchors.
Here is an example of a GIF:
According to @WABetaInfo , which tracks changes in new WhatsApp updates , version 2.16.7.1 of the application (still under development) will incorporate the autoplay feature of GIFs shared via links , before sending the specific file. The process is similar to that of links, which show a preview before being shared via chat. Like on facebook, so now even the little brother WhatsApp will make GIFs available for its users.
The system is not yet as sophisticated as that of Twitter (which has a built-in search engine for GIFs) or Facebook Messenger, but we are sure that WhatsApp will not take long to refine the technology and reach a good level.
At first, according to rumors, GIFs on WhatsApp will be limited to iPhone devices with the iOS operating system, but soon they will also land on Android.
The official date is not yet known, but we will update you as soon as the update is available.
