Next year  Whatsapp  will introduce various new features for its users, including dark mode and self-destructing of messages. These innovations, however, will not be accessible to everyone, quite the contrary. In fact, starting tomorrow, the most used instant messaging platform in the world will say  goodbye to millions of smartphones , From 11:59 pm tomorrow Tuesday 31 December the famous app will no longer work on smartphones based on the Windows Phone operating system , while  from 1 February 2020 Whatsapp will no longer be compatible with smartphones on which Android 2.3.7 and iOS 7 and later are installed.
Whatsapp justified this decision as follows:
We intend to focus our resources on the mobile platforms that the vast majority of people use. While these mobile devices have been an important part of our history, they don’t offer the kind of functionality we need to expand the functionality of our application in the future. It was a tough decision to make, but it’s the right one to give people the best ways to communicate with friends, family and loved ones.
