What are protein rich foods?
Here is a question that many people ask, together with the concern of not getting enough protein in the diet: what are the foods rich in protein? And how do you make sure you get the right amount of protein every day? Generally speaking, we must take no less than one gram of protein per day per kilo of body weight if we have a sufficiently active life: a little less if we are totally sedentary, more if we exercise recurrently. I take a cue from this article, because I really hate tables, and I find a simple list like this more useful to remember.
WHAT FOODS RICH IN PROTEIN?
Let’s start with fresh dairy products:the most protein-rich dairy products are mozzarella, with almost 28 gr. of proteins every 100; ricotta, with 11 gr. of proteins every 100; cottage cheese and Greek yogurt, which both have just over 9 grams of protein per 100 grams.
For cheeses: the most protein-rich cheese is Parmigiano Reggiano, with 38 gr. of proteins every 100, followed by Caciocavallo (36) and Grana Padano (33). For the other cheeses (Swiss, Taleggio, Brie, etc.), we consider an average of 25 gr. of protein every 100 gr
The eggs: count about 7 gr. of protein for each average egg.
Among legumes, soy is the most protein-rich legume, with about 35 gr. of protein every 100. The others? Consider an average of 26 gr. per 100.
Among the meat, the most protein is that of beef , with almost 49 grams of protein per 100 grams; followed by veal (35 g) of turkey, chicken and pork (28-26 g of protein). For fish, consider for white fish and small fish, an average of 20 gr. of protein every 100 gr. Large fish are more protein, for example tuna has about 23 gr., Sturgeon is among the most protein fish with over 30 gr. of protein every 100 gr.
And the vegetables? Dried mushrooms are a fantastic food. They contain 40 gr. about protein per 100 grams!
