Vegetables for weight loss and drainage, what to aim for?
In this short article I would like to tell you about the vegetables I always focus on when I have problems with abdominal swelling, water retention (it happens to all women at particular times of the month) and in general, I ate too much in the previous days. In short, a short article on vegetables for weight loss based on my experience, but accompanied by expert advice, with tips for cooking them and having fast results.
If you suffer from bloated stomach problems and retention, I personally advise against combining more vegetables with a meal. Different fibers and starches help slow digestion. Among the vegetables for weight loss, here is my personal top ten :
– asparagus , to eat cooked, for example first boiled and then spent 5 minutes au gratin. Keep the boiling water and drink it lukewarm between meals for an easy detox and help against water retention and urinary tract problems.
– fennel , to be eaten raw, in salads, or as a snack between meals, better than cooked. But even when eaten cooked they do very well, being diuretics.
– celery , see fennel. Celery in particular seems to have a role in reducing the risk of cholesterol, triglycerides, hypertension.
– artichokes : unless they are really tender, I do not recommend eating them raw. Prefer them stewed or sautéed, to purify yourself and help the liver.Read this beautiful article by Dr. Sara Farnetti on cooking artichokes and other vegetables to get an idea .
– carrots : these are to be eaten only raw, and they do very well. They are perfect in case of stress swelling or cycle problems. I explain everything here, with the opinion of the endocrinologist Ray Peat.Â
– zucchini, especially useful when every vegetable you eat causes intestinal swelling, and strictly to eat sauté in a pan with a drizzle of oil. Zucchini is easily digested.
– spinach:I prefer them over chicory and beets, because they generally have more tender leaves and are therefore digested quite easily. Passed in a pan with a little butter or oil or even in raw salads, they are always perfect. Plus, they’re perfect for staving off the craving for junk food.
– chicory and beets , decidedly purifying, I recommend them sautéed in a pan with garlic and oil for a dish useful to counteract water retention and help the liver
– field herbs , typical of autumn and winter, perform a purifying action; to eat in an omelette or sautéed in a pan.
– cucumbers , help to hydrate and thus fight water retention. To be eaten raw and between meals.
