Unlock metabolism with Sara Gottfried’s hormonal diet

Unblocking the metabolism in three weeks, by acting on the hormones that cause overweight: that’s when Dr. Sara Gottfried promises, with her hormonal diet described in the book “The hormone reset diet” and now translated into Italian with the name of ” The diet of 7 hormones “(Sperling & Kupfer).
According to Dr. Gottfried , a doctor at Harvard, the hormones to keep in mind (and whose imbalance causes overweight, swelling, continuous hunger, risk of metabolic syndrome, etc.) are precisely seven: insulin, leptin, estrogen, growth hormone, testosterone, thyroid hormone, cortisol.

When these hormones are not balanced, they create serious consequences for the metabolism : certainly our current life, very stressful, is the cause of this imbalance, but as we have seen in some previous blog articles on leptin and on insulin resistance or on cortisol, it is also and above all our modern diet to do damage. Foods rich in sugars, which have caused us addiction; additives and preservatives; excess gluten hidden in food. Do these things sound familiar to us?

Dr. Gottfried responds to these problems with a hormonal diet that scratches is the classic elimination diet: every three days a new food is eliminated (this process is called “reset”), starting with the meat, until after 21 days of eating very little remains .
The foods to be eliminated are in fact: 
– no meat because it contains estrogen (but yes to chicken even every day: strange, because chickens are fed on cereals and contain a lot of omega6, pro-inflammatory and estrogenic fats)
– no sugars of any kind a stevia starts
– no fruit
– no cereals (so no to bread, pasta, rice, etc.)
– no dairy products and cheeses
– no coffee
