Tiredness, a help from carnitine
Physical and mental fatigue should not be underestimated, because in the long run it can compromise the quality of life. A help comes from carnitine: if we don’t produce enough, we can integrate it.
Tiredness, when we have to worry
When we say we’re tired and fatigued , we usually don’t get too much attention. At best it seems like an interlayer said without thinking too much, at worst a pure and simple complaint .
Today’s lifestyle requires us to always be at 100% of our potential, so every now and then it’s up to us to put some stakes and recognize our limits .Â
Otherwise, fatigue triggers a real vicious circle : we are overloaded with deadlines and commitments that we cannot complete in the best way, therefore we live a state of frustration that overloads us on a psychological level and makes us feel even more . fatigued . This means that we will find ourselves even more in difficulty when faced with our tasks; and so on, in a potentially infinite loop .Â
Transient and chronic energy deficit
When we talk about energy deficits , we must first distinguish between two large families:
> the transient energy deficit can be triggered by a state of actual malnutrition or, to a lesser extent, by an improvised diet that does not guarantee the right balance of nutrients.
Other times it is linked to a period of convalescence or the use of drugs , infections (bacterial or viral) and surgical interventions that can increase the energy demand by up to 30%. Even the banal change of season requires a greater energy intake;
> the chronic energy deficit is the one that lasts more than two or three weeks. A common example is aging , because as we age, mitochondria produce less ATP.
Chronic diseases such as diabetes  and anemia or a state of physical and psychological stress can also trigger it.
From fatigue to asthenia
We speak of asthenia precisely when physical and psychological weakness is no longer just a transitory moment that is overcome with a good sleep, but a generalized condition of exhaustion, decrease in muscle strength (and therefore in the ability to work), listlessness and sleepiness .
Sometimes it is a symptom of a more serious pathology, but very often its origin remains unknown . And these are precisely the cases in which there are no holds to intervene in a targeted manner.
It is estimated that between 5 and 25% of the population suffers from asthenia, with a higher incidence in women and the elderly.
In the long run, this condition can compromise the quality of life by evolving into chronic fatigue syndrome . Faced with a sense of physical and mental fatigue  that becomes a little too insistent, therefore, it becomes essential to act immediately .Â
Carnitine, an energy refill
To intervene yes, but how? If we feel short of energy, it is possible that our body is in a condition of insufficiency of  carnitine , a precious molecule that helps our cells to produce ATP.Â
We therefore find carnitine supplements available in pharmacies as excellent allies .
The most interesting aspect of this type of supplements is their ability to intervene on the many variations of fatigue: that of the sportsman who puts pressure on his body day after day, but also that of the student struggling with the exam session or the professional who goes non-stop from a meeting to a delivery.Â
Carnitine, is it to be trusted?
Another good news is that we are talking about a molecule that has a century of medical and pharmaceutical history behind it : the very first scientific study dates back to 1905
The carnitine molecule  is clinically tested on different types of patients , from the elderly to those suffering from chronic fatigue. And in all cases it has shown that it can give back to the body those elements necessary to produce energy and better face daily life.Â
